CASA Receives Grant
CASA for Children is a grant recipient of the Rockbridge Area Community Foundation! Welcome Our Newest Volunteers
On December 8, Judge Filson asked four of CASA's newly trained volunteers to repeat an oath to become officers of the court.
Michael Nay, Katherine Hamilton, Nicole Simmons and Mark Schloneger are the newest advocates for the Waynesboro, Staunton and Augusta County area.
CASA for Children anticipates assigning them to a case early in 2011; however, on the same day of induction, Ms. Simmons, was appointed to a case and attended a hearing later that afternoon.

Rask Florist
The talented team at Rask Florist created a beautiful window display for CASA. The winter scene is intended to increase awareness of our unique services to the community. Board member, Ellen Boden, graciously provided the window space in her building at 19 West Beverley in Staunton. Thank you to Missy Booth and Lindy Greaver of Rask Florist for taking the time out of their busy schedule making beautiful floral creations in order to put the display together. |
Kappa Alpha Theta Supports CAS A
The women of Kappa Alpha Theta at James Madison University celebrated their 3rd anniversary on December 2nd. CASA Volunteer Alice Leonhardt was invited to speak for the celebration. Mrs. Leonhardt challenged the over 100 Theta women in attendance to consider all of the benefits of volunteering in their community. At the end of the evening, CASA was presented with blankets the women made for CASA children. The blankets will be given when they are first removed from a home due to abuse and/or neglect.
Kappa Alpha Theta's throughout the country have supported CASA programs since 1989. The chapter at JMU has contributed to our program financially and through volunteering at last year's "Serving Justice" event.
