Business Meeting:

A.      Department Reports:

1.       Department of Public Safety

a. Law Compliance- Duane Bartels

·         Inspections are on-going.  Eighteen random checks were done on Monday and none were put out of service.

·         Ed Carroll reported that they have been out on the weekends and the biggest issues have been trailers that either have no inside controls or dead batteries.

·         Make sure when a trailer is not on the back of the bus that the ball and hitch are removed.

·         When regular criminal background checks are being done on renewals things are showing up that weren't there before. Drivers are being notified and in some cases being disqualified.

b. Driver and Vehicle Services

·         The new Commissioner of Public Safety Mona Dohman will begin in March

·         Issuing is out 23 days. BCA checks about a week. Medicals are current.

·         SB drivers that are due to renew in the next couple of months have been sent to the BCA to start background checks before applications are made.

·         Medical waiver forms are on the web site.

·         Examiner in-service training will be held Feb 22-24 and March 1-3. This will bring in examiners from all over the State.

·         Credit card transactions have been deployed at the Cottage Grove MV/DL office. Blaine will start the end of the month.

B.      Committee Reports    

1.       TTT- Ray Kroll

·         Save the date postcards will be sent out to last year's participants.

·         The committee will be meeting on Friday at the winter conference.

 

2.       Rodeo -Sherry Case

·         The date will be June 4, 2011. Site to be determined. Possibly St. Cloud. Looking for helpers.

 

3.       Poster contest- Cindy McKay. 

·         The theme this year  is 'I see the Driver, the Driver Sees Me'

·         Information is on web sites. Last year three winners from Minnesota placed at Nationals.

 

4.       Stake Holders Group

·         Next meeting will be Monday February 14th at 9:00 AM at State Patrol Headquarters in Mendota. Everyone is invited to attend.

·         The new web site is being monitored by Randy Dukek

 

New Business: 

·         There is a new proposal for day care buses. It is lengthy and has not been presented yet.

·         Short discussion on the distance students walk to bus stops

Transportation to and from the hotel will be provided, along with lunch every day.

Travel to High Point and lodging during the week are the responsibility of the attendee. You will be responsible for making your own hotel reservation. If your hotel reservation is with our Hotel Block, you will receive free breakfast, free transportation to and from the Greensboro airport, and free transportation to and from classes.
