Why Is it So Hard to Be Kind?

By Bill Talyor

Bill Taylor

Every so often, you have a small experience in business that teaches big lessons about what really separates winners from losers. I had one of those experiences a few weeks ago, and I think the story is worth telling, not because it is so exciting or dramatic, but because it is so true to how the world really works - and because it underscores how those of us who think about business often make things more complicated than

What CEOs Really Say About Leadership in Private
By Lisa Petrilli

I've mentioned previously that in my role as Chief Relationship Officer for

CEO Connection I have the opportunity to participate in a series of meetings five times a year at various locales around the country with our members, mid-market CEOsrepresenting companies with an average of $1.6 billion in sales.

These meetings are private so the CEOs may feel comfortable being fully open and honest about their current challenges and perspectives on a variety of issues.

My New Tee Shirt

I suppose you are wondering about this- so what about her new tee shirt? On the front it says "Life is Good' and then there is a tab that reads: "Do what you like, like what you do"

This is a good message- for me and for you too! I am fortunate to have a profession that I really do like, and it is so great to get up every morning (most at least) and look forward to my job! What about you?

We are at the very beginning of a brand New Year- offering lots of new and exciting opportunities for all of us.

I am cheering you on! Remember- anything is possible.

The bad news is that you have to be a lot more thoughtful about who you hire if you are going to ensure that people working at your company fell fully engaged.

Attend to Myers-Briggs scores

People are most engaged with their work when they are doing what feels fulfilling. People who love details (S-types) feel good working at a detailed level. They feel that no work is getting done if there are no details to deal with. Conversely, big-picture thinkers (NT-types) need to be doing work that looks toward the future. Otherwise they feel like they...Read more
