Thinking of Moving to MN?

There's a lot to know about Minnesota. Here you'll find plenty of facts, figures and informational tidbits about the state's history, geography and climate. Everything from the prehistoric carvings found throughout the state to the 7,326 square miles of water found within its borders. Not to mention, practical travel information like the average low and high temperature throughout the year. One thing is for sure: the more you know about Minnesota, the more you appreciate all that it offers.

BRITTANY (age 4) had an ear ache and wanted a pain killer. She tried in vain to take the lid off the bottle. Seeing her frustration, her mom explained it was a child-proof cap and she'd have to open it for her. Eyes wide with wonder, the little girl asked: 'How does it know it's me?'

TAMMY (age 4) was with her mother when they met an elderly, rather wrinkled woman her mom knew. Tammy looked at her for a while and then asked, 'Why doesn't your skin fit your face?'

DJ (age 4) stepped onto the bathroom scale and asked: 'How much do I cost?'

JAMES (age 4) was listening to a Bible story. His dad read: 'The man named Lot was warned to take his wife and flee out of the city but his wife looked back and was turned to salt.' Concerned, James asked: 'What  happened to the flea?'

Greetings!

Welcome to Sensational Summer 2010!  The sun is shining, the sky is blue and the birds are singing non stop! It is my favorite time of year.

The last couple years have been challenging for corporations and job seekers alike. However we are in a recovery, no matter what the media has to say. It is not a rapid recovery, but a recovery in any event! It may be time to consider a new career, perhaps to turn that hobby into a business; there are many opportunities out there waiting to be discovered!

For those of you who are in job search, get involved with networking groups, help your fellow job seekers, and when you land, do not forget to continue to reach out to those you have met along the way. While searching, consider volunteer work. There are many non profit organizations and volunteers are needed. You will receive much more than you give- absolutely!

I am so blessed to have such a rewarding career in search and recruiting; for more than four decades! My work is not work at all, it is my passion. Heartfelt thanks to all the candidates and corporations who have made this possible for me.

 The Inside Succession Trap
By Adam Galinsky, Brian Gunia
and Niro Sivanathan

When bad decisions force business leaders to leave their jobs, organizations often rush to replace them with insiders, who are familiar with the original problem and the former leader. In times of turmoil, the choice seems natural and even obvious: Because insiders know the past, they should be less likely to repeat it. General Motors pointedly replaced Rick Wagoner as its chief executive officer with his protégé Fritz Henderson, a career GM employee. However, our research reveals that despite the natural inclination to opt for an insider with connections to the old boss, a failing leader is often better replaced with a completely unrelated outside party.

We conducted research that speaks to one of the most vexing problems that business leaders confront, a phenomenon called...

Resumes for the Digital Age - 7 tips for mastering keywords and electronic formatting
by Margaret Steen, for Yahoo! HotJobs

When you're applying for a job, you work hard to make sure your resume will command the attention of the first person who reads it. But it's increasingly likely that the first reader of your resume won't be a person at all.
Inundated with hundreds--or thousands--of resumes for some positions, many companies are using technology to streamline resume screening.

"Any time you submit a resume, you should expect to have your resume scanned for keywords," says Chandlee Bryan, career coach and owner of Best Fit Forward.

Companies use applicant-tracking systems to electronically sort through and store resumes. The systems search for keywords, sort the resumes, and give hiring mangers the most-promising candidates.
Although designing a resume that will impress both a computer and human readers may seem intimidating, there are some advantages.
