DSC Wins Local Award
Baltimore County Commission on Disabilities has chosen the DSC as the 2012 Accessible Community Program of the year. It is an honor to receive the award and will put us in the forefront of the local accessible community. Thank you to all volunteers who have dedicated time and love to this program.
Celebration Happy Hour for DSC Volunteers
The DSC would not have won this award without everyone's hard work and dedication to the center. From the committees to work parties the DSC can't thank everyone enough! So come and join the celebration at Little Havana's on August 28th from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM.
Click here to Register for the Celebration Volunteer Happy Hour.
It will be a great opportunity for everyone to share their volunteer stories while patting each other on the back. The DSC staff looks forward to seeing you there! |

Applicants Wanted ~ The LEADERship
Message from Executive Director
Greg Cantori
Dear DSC Community -
As a 1999 graduate of the program, I cannot say enough good things about The Leadership and how it will expand your network, horizons and understanding of our Baltimore Metro area. Click here to explore the program.
You'll get to ride shotgun with a police officer for a shift, run a school for a day, and even go to jail! The new experiences and friends you'll make will last a lifetime. It will take a serious time commitment and of course some money too. That said, selfishly for the DSC, this is a great way to benefit us too as you talk about our work and perhaps interest others in our Sailing is for Everyone mission.
Feel free to contact me and I'd be thrilled and honored to nominate you! If you cannot commit but know a DSC member who might - pass this on or let me know! Click here to send an email to Greg.
Thanks!

August DSC Open House
~ Saturday, August 18, 2012
10:00 AM to 1:00 PM
This is a chance to try out sailing for free! Come check out all the DSC has to offer. Invite your friends, family, and colleagues to attend our Open House event. Guests will enjoy a 25-minute sail, and will learn about membership, classes, and more. Please click here to register for each guest attending the Open House. Advanced registration is very helpful to us as we coordinate boats and crew. (We are looking good with Skippers who have stepped up to run the boat rides - Thanks! Still seeking a couple of "Shore Support" Volunteers for the event. If you have an hour or two and wish to help, you may also register using the link. As always, we're very grateful for any and all assistance!) |

Antique Car Show @ The BMI
~ Sunday, August 19, 2012
11:00 AM to 3:00 PM
The BMI is hosting an Antique Car Show this weekend. This event coincides with our Sunday Open Sail. The parking lot has been Red Flagged for the timeframe of our event, so please be aware that you will need to seek out street parking when you arrive for Open Sail. |
|
DSC Parking Lot Access & Reminders
Reminders about parking for DSC Members - your cooperation is very much appreciated:
- Seek parking on the gravel area near the docks. If no parking is available in that area, limited blacktop parking can be utilized, keeping as close to the docks as possible.
- The "Entrance" Gate is solely for the purpose of vehicular traffic entering the BMI/DSC parking lot. Do not use this as a vehicle exit from the property at any time unless the "Exit" gate is locked. The "Exit" Gate should be utilized to leave the property. (This applies to moving vehicles only, not pedestrian or bicycle traffic.)
- Skippers and Dock Masters performing end of day "securing the property" duties as the last remaining members on site will be required to close and lock both the Entrance and Exit Gates in the future.
- Please drive slowly and keep watch for pedestrians, especially children, and also wildlife in the parking area.
