"Sail for Kids" Regatta & Annual Fundraiser ~ Saturday and Sunday July 28th and 29th!
What Are You Doing This Weekend?
Racing: We still have a few boats left if you are interested in racing in Sail for Kids on Saturday or Sunday or both. Contact Traci Mead to reserve your boat.
There is an after race party on Saturday at Little Havana's starting at 4:00 PM - there will be complimentary drink tickets, food and the opportunity to meet one of our SIT participants, who is now a sailing instructor with the DSC.
Sail for Kids - Be There or Be Square!
Reasons to Celebrate: The Downtown Sailing Center is a true community and we have proven our mettle. Our passion for community sailing and our desire to provide access to sailing to those who would not otherwise have the opportunity, has resulted in $22,321 (sponsors and individuals) raised and we still have a few days left! To see who our top fundraisers are go to our First Giving page by clicking this link .
Only $8 separates our top two fundraisers and Team Jolie is still leading the team fundraising, with $5,622 raised.
We applaud everyone's positive energy and endeavoring toward a grand success for the kids!
Sunday BBQ: We have so much to celebrate! On Sunday we will be hosting a regatta of one of our youth programs, who will compete out in front of the docks! Come to the BBQ on Sunday to celebrate all the winners of the regattas - youth, LOD, cruisers, and "Fundracers" from 4pm to 7pm under the BMI Pavilion. There will be food and beverages, live music by John King and his band, and lots of fun games. Join us on Sunday, July 29th! Click Here to Register

DSC July Member Social
Friday, July 27, 2012 ~ 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Join the DSC on Friday, July 27th, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM for our July social celebrating the "Dog Days of Summer!"
Join us to eat some dogs and have a dog gone good time. Meet new and old friends, go out for a sail or maybe a pick-up race! It'll give you the opportunity to gear up for the next day's Sail For Kids Regatta, but please, no dogs in the races or at the Member Social. (Dogs are, however, highly encouraged to donate to Sail For Kids!)
Bring a dish or beverage so we won't all be panting in the summer heat.
The DSC would like to thank Attmans Deli for their donation of hot dogs and buns. Visit Attman's Deli's Website Here
*The Social is rain or shine. DSC Member Socials are open to those who have fully paid and current Supporting, Crew, and Skipper Level Memberships.

Calling All Ladies!
Looking at our membership roster, only 11% of our Skippers are women. Well, the Women's Clinic series hopes to add a little balance to that ratio! These clinics will be FOR women and taught BY women (sorry boys!). Right now, it's a four course series, but stay tuned for the addition of more single series clinics.

DSC Parking Lot Access & Reminders
Reminders about parking for DSC Members - your cooperation is very much appreciated:
- Seek parking on the gravel area near the docks. If no parking is available in that area, limited blacktop parking can be utilized, keeping as close to the docks as possible.
- The "Entrance" Gate is solely for the purpose of vehicular traffic entering the BMI/DSC parking lot. Do not use this as a vehicle exit from the property at any time unless the "Exit" gate is locked. The "Exit" Gate should be utilized to leave the property. (This applies to moving vehicles only, not pedestrian or bicycle traffic.)
- Skippers and Dock Masters performing end of day "securing the property" duties as the last remaining members on site will be required to close and lock both the Entrance and Exit Gates in the future.
- Please drive slowly and keep watch for pedestrians, especially children, and also wildlife in the parking area.
