Thank you for the generous support to date in, "The Tracey Schutty Fleet and Facililty Fund Matching Gift Challenge!"

As of today, we've raised $1,774.00  We're only $726.00 from our target number!  Won't you please consider making a donation to help the DSC meet the $2,500 goal?    

Any size gift to the Fleet and Facility Fund - online, by mail or by phone - will be matched in full until May 1, or as long as matching funds are available. We encourage donors to also consider taking advantage of company matching programs as well.

The Fleet and Facility Fund is an organization wide, grassroots effort to educate, engage and unite Downtown Sailing Center members to raise the funds necessary to maintain our fleet of more than 40 boats.  The goal is to raise more than $60,000 by October 2012.

Thanks to all who have already completed their skipper orientation and checkout for 2012.  All skippers must complete the orientation/checkout by May 31 to maintain access to reserve boats.    Additional openings for each Saturday in May have been added to the DSC Calendar.  Registration is required. 

Friday, May 4, 2012 ~ 6:00 PM at DSC

Come join your sailing friends on May 4th at 6pm for the first DSC Social of the year!  This "Cuatro de Mayo" (Cinco de Mayo is one day later,) themed event is the fun potluck taco dinner. Bring your best mexican side dish, drink, or dessert, and come on out for a great evening of mexican food, amigos de vela(sailing friends), and fun.  Ole!

Clinics are starting! Ever feel like you wish you could brush up on a specific skill with someone focused on helping you?  Perhaps a Man-overboard, docking, or even an Introduction to racing? Well, the DSC has got your back this season! 

We are starting to get our Tuesday night clinics on the calendar now starting with Intro to Racing and Race Rules and POB. Keep checking the calendar for new Tuesday offerings.

If you are interested in learning the basics of power boating this spring don't miss out on this opportunity for anyone who wants to learn how to safely operate a small motorboat and improve their boat handling skills on actual boats.

The DSC is going LOCAL and we want YOU! We are looking for positive, energetic volunteers that want to spread the good word about the DSC at the Historic Federal Hill Jazz & Blues Festival on June 3rd from 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM. There are 70 venders and the DSC is going to be one of them. In order to get the booth, we need to provide a minimum of 5 volunteers for the 10:30 AM - 3:00 PM shift and 10 volunteers for the 2:30 PM to 7:00 PM shift.

Volunteers will be selling beer tickets, pouring beer, potentially helping with children's games, and having a whole lotta fun chatting about sailnig.  It will be a great day to come, hang out, and spread the good word about DSC to the local community. We need to give them a good sense by May 15th if we are able to participate, so sign up NOW!
