Dear Downtown Sailing Center Community:
As stated in my opening letter in January, my first order of business was to undertake an organizational assessment of the Downtown Sailing Center to determine where we are as an organization and to identify recommendations for moving forward. This assessment was completed on January 19, 2012 by Susan Pollack, a non-profit consultant to provide us with an outside perspective of the Downtown Sailing Center.
The report was very insightful as to where the organization is as a non-profit and helpful to the board and staff as we chart out our strategic direction for the upcoming years. I am pleased to share with you the recommendations from the report (see attached.) In addition, I have updated the strategic plan to include the recommendations that we plan to address in the appropriate years and by functional area (also see attached.)
I hope that you will all join us at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 4pm to discuss our strategic direction and other important matters of DSC business.. In my quest to be "green", I am sending this information out in advance and will not have copies available at the meeting. If you would like to have a copy for review at the AGM, please print out a copy and bring with you.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, we will continue to work with the DSC Community to advance our mission. We are committed to serving the public interest as a non-profit organization and to becoming a sustainable community sailing center for years to come.
We welcome your individual and collective ideas and contributions to the sailing center, each one of us makes a difference in our community.
Fair Winds,
Kathleen
