Friday Social Tailgate Party
Football season is upon us. What better way to celebrate than a tailgate themed party for September's Friday Social? Wear your favorite team colors, professional or college, and let's get the rivalries started!
Make sure to bring your favorite tailgate meals, snacks, and drinks. Join us under the pavillion at 6 p.m. As at every party, we will need volunteers to help set up, grill and clean up. If you would like to volunteer please e-mail Grady.
Dont forget to click the link below to donate to the grill fund so we can keep these fun parties going! |

The Pictures Are Here!
The DSC's own Andy Herbick was snapping away at the Ya'Gotta Regatta and he managed to take more than 200 pictures of the event! Click HERE to catch a peek. You might even see yourself in one of them! And if you decide to order prints online, Andy has generously agreed to donate 50 percent of the proceeds to the DSC accessible sailing program. Now how's that for a deal? |

My Name Is Earl
Hurricane Earl is roaring up the east coast and, fortunately for the DSC, it appears the worst of the storm will miss the Baltimore area. For the time being we do not expect any interference with Thursday Night Racing, the Friday party or this weekend's Free Sail Day and Open House.
We will continue to monitor the storm, and will announce by e-mail and Facebook any changes to our regular schedule that may be necessary due to the storm. If you have any questions please e-mail Grady Byus.

We Need a Grill -- And We're Almost There!
The hardest worker at each and every event -- the grill -- has finally reached retirement. We are $100 shy of our goal of $400 to buy a new grill, and the DSC needs your help to reach our goal!
The donor who contributes the most will have the new grill named after them. Currently, Dudley Whitney Jr. is in the lead with a $105 donation. Don't you want your name to live on in grill infamy?
Your contribution will help us purchase a new grill and utensils that can handle the rigors of DSC use. Help keep the parties rocking and the burgers cooking -- donate today!
You do not need a PayPal account to make a donation. If you do not have an account, look for the "continue" button in the center of the screen under, "Why use PayPal?" |

Trivia!
The first person to answer the question correctly wins a DSC t-shirt. Email your answer HERE. This week's trivia question is in honor of Hurricane Earl. The storm surge of a hurricane can be very destructive. About how much, on average, does a cubic foot of sea water weigh in pounds? The answer to last week's question is: 2.4 Metre, SKUD 18 and Sonar. Congrats to the winner, Dileep Monie! |

Downtown Sailing Center's Person of the Week is
Ed Duggan.
Most of you have probably met Ed Duggan. A two-time Ya'Gotta Regatta winner, Ed is a fixture at Friday night racing, Friday parties and accessible open sails on Saturdays. What you may not know is that Ed is an active ambassador for the DSC accessible sailing programs. "No person in a wheelchair is safe!" as Ed likes to say. He's introduced countless friends to the DSC accessible programs and is always on hand to sail with them on Saturdays. He's the first person to volunteer to staff the table at expos for people with disabilities and is an expert at recruiting new sailors with disabilities. He is an invaluable member of the DSC community and and enthusiastic volunteer. Ed Duggan. Two-time Ya'Gotta winner. Accessible sailing cheerleader. DSC Person of the Week.
