DSC Friend and Fundraising Gala Music Fest at Leadbetters Tavern in Fells Point
We all know it. The DSC rocks.
Come prove it by inviting your music-loving friends to come out and learn about the DSC's educational and outreach programs while listening to some great live tunes next Thursday, July 22, at Leadbetters Tavern.
This event, created by our own rockstar and cruising committee chairman, John King, is designed to raise proceeds for the DSC's
outreach programs and reach out to potential new members. The stage will be packed throughout the night with some of Baltimore's best bands and musicians who have generously donated their time -- and their tips to the cause.
Leadbetters will be donating a portion of bar sales, so invite your friends and help us fill the tavern with new DSC fans. Bring your dancing shoes for a night to remember.

Outreach News
Despite the intense heat last week, the DSC's Outreach Programs kept on keepin' on. More than 300 kids went sailing with our outreach staff -- and 60 of those kids, the kids in the Superkids literacy program, went sailing 5 times. When the wind failed, the pavilion kept everyone cool as the staff played sailing games with the kids and taught them to tie knots. Summer camp is in full swing here at the DSC!
If camp sounds like someplace you wish you could be and you're a DSC skipper with a flexible schedule, we can definitely use your help -- especially the next couple of Fridays during the day. If you're interested in helping out, send an e-mail to Allie with your availability! |

Calling All Skippers
The Downtown Sailing Center is a volunteer-driven organization that instills confidence, teamwork and a sense of community through a range of educational and recreational sailing programs.
DSC skippers are an important group of volunteers that are vital to the execution of our mission. Specifically, we need skippers to help members and non-members alike get access to all we offer the community by participating in Wednesday Open Sails and our monthly public Free Sails.
If you are a DSC Skipper who is willing to sail with our crew level members during Open Sails or help promote the DSC during the July 24 public Free Sail, please contact us today! |

Downtown Sailing Center's Person of the Week is Charlotte Snow.Ever wonder what our instructors do when they aren't at the DSC? Well, outreach instructor Charlotte Snow just competed in the Ida Lewis Junior Women's Doublehanded Championship! This event was designed to bring together the nation's best young women sailors to help them grow as sailors and racers.
Charlotte has been with the DSC for two years now, but she has sailed since she was 8 years old and she regularly sails for the Annapolis Yacht Club Junior Team.
As a senior at Severna Park High School, Charlotte hopes to race in college, says her favorite sailing knot is a bowline and her favorite baseball team is the Boston Redsox.
