Blowout Sale...Wednesday, August 24, 2011
ALL ABOUT PAPER, School and Business Supplies!

Wednesday, August 24, 2011, 2 pm - 7 pm in the NEW CLASSROOM!

folders

We all know that we still use paper in this virtual world of ours and that it doesn't always have to match, be a full case, have pristine edges or be a certain color.  Of course sometimes we DO need those things too - and The I.D.E.A. Store ALL ABOUT PAPER, School and Business Supply Blowout will have them, too!  New paper, partial packs, just unneeded post-its, pads and bits, notebooks, binders, folders, organizers, staples, pens, pencils, random office supplies - you name it, we will probably have at least one.

And, a huge thank you to Shauna Carey and Jennifer Bechtel's Learning Community class of UI Freshmen who helped us set this sale up and learned about re-use!

We had an IDEA and We are Making Changes!

As we come up on our 1st year Anniversary we are completing our expansion to the south side space in our building, opening our new classroom, and revamping our education programming.

First, please welcome Melissa Mitchell as our new Communications Coordinator!

Melissa Mitchell

She is joining us as a part-time volunteer after 30 years at the University of Illinois News Bureau.  She will help us pull all the loose ends together as we try to keep you informed and entertained!  Our Leadership team of volunteers is unstoppable...and our success attests to this!  Viva re-use!

So expect a change-up on the newsletter - it will now be just 2 times a month.  We are eliminating the blog and adding a news release link to the main website.  Of course we will be keeping up the Facebook and increasing the Twitter...and, we will have more signage up at the store telling you about upcoming hoopla!

Plus, we have added new space for more inventory on the floor!  Watch for slightly larger items, more wood, metal and wire and glass.  We are still experimenting with what you like to see and what you can donate so, as always, share your thoughts with us about changes we are making!

And, we will be adding 2 scales to the sales floor, one for you to get an idea of  what you are going to be charged for our "by the pound" items and the other at the cash register for you to help us keep track of how much weight is going with you when you make a purchase.  We want to tell the community about how much material we are diverting from the waste-stream!

Thank you for all your support!

Workshops, Open Studios and Parties, Oh My!  Sign-up TODAY!!

Check out this link to our website and register for a workshop or studio....We are going to have so much fun!   We have a semester of opportunities for you planned and our new classroom is open!  We also have space for birthday parties, craft parties, corporate trainings and tours...so give us a call if you or your group is interested in making a reservation.  We are going to experiment with leasing our classroom, too, for your meetings.  Give it a think and help sustain this great community resource!

So, What's This All About?

The Champaign Urbana Schools Foundation saw a need in the community to accomplish several things: 1.  Support the arts and arts education, 2.  Support environmental education in our communities, 3. Impact the environment by reducing the rate of waste disposal, 4. create a place for everyone to have access to quality materials and 5. Support itself in light of the difficult economic times.  So donate your discards and shop re-use.  Its about making a difference!
