OOOPS!

Our Apologies!
Amy Robinson at workWe spelled Amy Robison's name wrong last week and feel pretty bad about that.  For Pete's sake, you know?  Amy is gracious enough to say "not to worry" but we are truly sorry Amy!

And that leads us to thank Vivian, Amy's daughter, for coming in lately now that the semester is over...She has been working hard sorting sewing patterns into categories...check them out the next time you come.  You could actually use them as patterns...not just tissue paper or paper mache!

CD Cases
What are your ideas for how to reuse CD cases?

Re-USE!

No kidding....

So many people are coming up with great ideas for how to use CDs - jewelry, holiday ornaments, garden reflectors...but what to do with the cases which are left behind and made of non-recyclable plastics?  We have had some very practical uses come through our store - not the least of which is simply replacing broken cases with new ones.  In fact, we have one customer who just replaces the broken top clear sections.

But what else?  We have seen them as cases for selling handcrafted items such as jewelry and cards and for the skeleton of a hand-made book.  Below is a link to another list of suggestions by Life Hackery.com.

Coming UP THIS Summer!

Staff is developing our Fall Education and Outreach... and Visit us at these locations!

We couldn't be happier to welcome Shauna Carey as our new Art Education Team Member!  Along with Carol Jo Morgan, our Environmental Specialist, Shauna will help our Store develop an in depth offering of education ideas for all ages.  The month of June is our planning month for Fall 2011 workshops and outreach programs.
In the meantime, we have several private birthday parties, adult celebrations and a retirement party or two on the calendar.  Watch for our First ever Jewelry BLOWOUT sale coming up on July 27th at 8:30 am (we have been saving jewelry since we opened!), a Fabric and Fiber BLOWOUT (TBD) and a Back-to-school/Office Supply BLOWOUT on August 31, 2011 from 8:30 - 4:00 pm.

Krannert OUTSIDE
We will also be at the Krannert OUTSIDE at the University Of Illinois Research Park as their Community Partner and as part of their "Green" Theme on July 29th!  That starts at 6 pm!  And, we will be at the Champaign and Urbana Libraries as well as at the Market at the Square in the next couple of months!  More to come!
