How To Color-Block 101
First off, which colors do you color block with?
You can color block using monochromatic colors, colors in the same family just in different tints and shades.
BCBG (on the left) keeps it simple by color blocking with two different shades of coral. J. Crew (on the right) pairs its matching pants and top in different shades of blue, but has a more complex pattern.
OR
Color block using completely opposite colors from on the color wheel.
J. Crew matches yellow pants and a blue sweater together in a perfect pair of color blocking between complementary colors.

Pastels vs. Neons
Neons have been popular throughout this winter whether it is by color blocking or using it as a pop of color, but there is a new wave of colors that are becoming popular. We are seeing pastels EVERYWHERE! Tangerine Tango, Cockatoo Blue, Sweet Lilac, and Margarita green are just some of the in colors for this Spring.
The runways of New York Fashion Week were full of color with both sherbet hues ruling apparel and neons owning accessories!
Wear a brighter shoe or belt to make the outfit stand out like the first and third model are doing. A splash of neon within the sherbet hues will make you look extremely trendy!

Prints
Whether they are geometric, floral, or animal, prints are definitely in for Spring 2012! It is how you mix and/or match these prints with other prints or colors to really keep it simple or make a bold statement.
There were prints on almost every runway!
If you don't wan to wear print on print, them wear a printed top with a neutral bottom or the other way around. You can still do a pop of color with a shoe, blazer, belt, or jewelry to spice it up! One of our favorite shopping hot spots just opened their second location on Newbury Street! Crush Boutique has been open since 2007 on Boston's 131 Charles Street, and now their second location is 264 Newbury Street. I stopped by their new location to tape my first segment of Fashion Buzz with the owners Laura Macris and Rebecca Penner.
Everyone must stop by Crush Boutique on either Newbury or Charles Street to admire the fashion, design, and excellent service provided by their staff! This store is one of my favorite boutiques in the Boston area!
