Going Fashionably Green

What is "Going Green"?

You've probably seen commercials and ads, talking about "Going Green."  Recycling cans and paper or using organic products rather than plastic are usually the first things that come to mind, but it can apply to fashion as well!  You can recycle your clothes, or read the label before you buy to see if the manufacturer is using organic fabrics in order to fashionably Go Green!

What You Should Look Out For

Organic Cotton:

Organic cotton is grown without the use of chemicals or pesticides.

Corn clothes and fibers:

Corn looks similar to cotton. It is made from renewable energy resources and breathes really well.

Hemp clothes and fibers:

Hemp can be transformed into strong, smooth and long fibres.  Natural hemp makes comfortable, durable clothes that become more comfortable with wear. Hemp is also fun because it is really easy to dye into bold colors and prints.

Bamboo clothes and fibers:

Bamboo is grown without the use of any chemicals or pesticides and is biodegradable. It produces strong fibers that can surprisingly be spun into a silk like finish.

Think Green and Look Good Doing it!

Just because you want to help make this world a healthier and safer place doesn't mean you can't look good doing it!  Dressing organically does not mean you have to only wear hemp clothing!  I can help you find some great outfits and individual pieces that will look great on and benefit the earth.

Recycle clothes when you're done with them! You can either bring them back to the manufacturer to be made again or donate them. That is exactly what my Style Swap was about back in February...(be on the lookout for details on my next one in the coming months!)
