Rose KirkThe Verizon Foundation and the NFL Players Association announced plans during Super Bowl week to team up to provide domestic violence prevention training and information to teenagers taking part in the association's Training Camp for Life program.

 

As part of the planned partnership, the Verizon Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Verizon, will provide experts in domestic violence prevention and healthy relationships to talk with the teenagers. Training Camp for Life is a character and life skills development program designed to provide resources to assist students dealing with challenges and also help them build a strong sense of self.

NJ Non-Profits Received $3.5M+ in Verizon Grants in 2010

At the heart of Verizon is our passionate belief in the transformative power of technology and innovation. We're acting on that belief by investing in the new broadband and wireless technologies that are remaking our society.

 

Last year, nonprofit groups in New Jersey received more than $3.5 million from the Verizon Foundation. The majority of the funds went to organizations that support education, domestic violence prevention and Internet safety.

 

In addition, Verizon employees volunteered more than 68,600 hours to nonprofit groups throughout the Garden State in 2010.

Verizon NJ Invests Nearly $700M in Infrastructure in 2010

Last year Verizon invested more than $688 million in its New Jersey landline communications network and IT infrastructure.

 

"New Jersey's communications marketplace is one of the most competitive in the nation, and Verizon is helping to position New Jersey as a technology leader through our aggressive investment in the latest technology for consumers and businesses," said Dennis M. Bone, president of Verizon New Jersey.  "From the smallest home to the largest business, Verizon's networks and technology touch lives, and our substantial investments benefit our customers, employees, suppliers and communities."

Verizon Donates Newark Office Space to Junior Achievement of New Jersey for 'Finance Park'

Finance ParkBig dreamers. That's what

President Obama and business leaders around the country are hoping for to help stir new ideas, new businesses and new jobs.

 

Dream big. That's the goal of Junior Achievement, a partnership between the business community, educators and volunteers. Together they worked to inspire young people to dream big and reach their potential.

 

Junior Achievement of New Jersey's Finance Park, a reality-based, hands-on learning lab designed to educate students about financial planning, opened earlier this month at Verizon New Jersey's headquarters building at 540 Broad St. in Newark, in space donated by Verizon for the initiative.
