Risk Concepts Insurance Brokers ("RCI") is  pleased to introduce its inaugural monthly newsletter.  We know that you receive quite a few e-mails - so we hope that RCI's newsletter will stand out as informative and worthy of your time.   
Please take a moment to review our "first edition" below as it introduces RCI staff - including pictures and bios of the folks on the other end of that telephone or keyboard.
Future newsletters will be arranged to provide useful information in the following components: 
  • Focus on a particular change or strategy that you can use to directly control your insurance costs.  
  • Focus on a specific type of coverage - why it might be important to you, why you may or may not need it and what it typically costs. 
  • Focus on RCI's recent expansion into other areas such   as personal insurance, employee benefits, life/disability insurance, business succession planning and business consultation. 
Newsletters will contain web links for readers to access additional information regarding the components above and other useful resources.

Lafayette Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting  
RCI's 5th Year Anniversary! 
 
 
cut InCelebration of our five year anniversary, RCI, along with the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a "Ribbon Cutting" at our offices on June 24th, 2010 from 5:00 - 7:00. Please join us for h'orderves and beverages.  We hope you can make it, as we look forward seeing you! It should be a fun night, and a great chance for you to meet the entire RCI staff!

mike  
Mike D. Robertson, CPCU, President
 
Risk Concepts was founded by Mike D. Robertson, CPCU.  Mike began his insurance career immediately after graduating from Chico State in 1983. Mike's career includes every facet of insurance brokerage sales, technical client service and management - with more than half of his career spent as a brokerage partner.
 
Prior to founding Risk Concepts, Mike was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of a local brokerage that was ranked in the top 1% of the United States.
 
Mike has completed the course study and testing criteria to obtain the "Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter" (CPCU) designation. The CPCU designation is considered the highest academic standard in the property/casualty insurance industry.
 
Mike prides himself on long-term client relationships and attributes this to managing his client's interest in the capacity of a "trusted advisor" and true advocate.  Mike's interests include skiing, hiking, off-road vehicles and time spent with family.

Kelli Roberston, CISR, Executive Vice President
 
Kelli Robertson started her insurance career in 1984 while attending Solano Community College.  After graduation, Kelli continued with insurance on a full-time then part-time basis until 2000, when she became  an accomplished Sales Director with Mary Kay Cosmetics. 
 
In 2005, Kelli joined her husband, Mike Robertson in the formation of Risk Concepts, re-acquired her insurance license and has since been instrumental in the finctional and strategic management of the firm. 
 
In addition to managing Risk Concepts' day-to-day operations, Kelli oversees the servicing of accounts and all a financial matters.  Kelli's hobbies include reading, cooking and boating with her family.
 
Jonathan Supran, MBA, CRM, Broker
 
With over 18 years experience in the commercial insurance brokerage industry, Jonathan has considerable experience providing his customers with the guidance, services and solutions they need to control risk exposures. 

After graduating from the University of California at Davis, Jonathan earned a Masters in Business Administration degree and Certified Risk Manager designation.  He has successfully used his industry experience to advise his clients on the best overall design for their unique insurance programs. By advancing his clients' understanding of the financial, operational and legal risks associated with their businesses, Jonathan has helped educate his clients on how to best retain, transfer and reduce their insurance programs to obtain the best value. 
  
Over his career, Jonathan has specialized in offering risk management solutions to companies involved in the construction, property management, food production, manufacturing and technology industries. 
 

In Jon's free time he enjoys outdoor activities, spending time with his family and working on home renovation projects.

Serena Campbell, CISR, CLCS, Executive Account Manager
 
Serena Campbell started her insurance career with Risk Concepts in May of 2006 as a part- time Insurance Assistant.  Serena obtained her insurance license in August of 2006 and became a full-time Commercial Lines Account Manager. 
 
Since becoming an Account Manager, Serena has earned the Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) designation and attended the Hartford School of Insurance in December of 2009 where she obtained the Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist (CLCS) designation.  
 
Serena's day-to-day client service activities and course work provide her with an excellent understanding of the technical and practical asepcts of commercial insurance exposures/coverages. 
 
Serena enjoys vacationing with friends, trying out new recipes,  and her Boot Camp Workouts.

Carrie Lifson,  Broker/Marketing
 
In December 2005, Carrie Lifson started her insurance career with Risk Concepts as an Insurance Assistant and obtained her insurance license in August 2006. 

 

While working with Risk Concepts, Carrie attended Diablo Valley College as a full-time student, eventually earning her Associate of Arts degree in Transfer Studies in the spring of 2007. After earning her AA, Carrie transferred to Saint Mary's College of California, where she attended school from fall of 2007 to spring of 2008. Carrie then continued her educational pursuits by attending California State University, Hayward where in the fall of 2009, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications.

 
Upon her graduation, Carrie transitioned to a full-time role at Risk Concepts.  Carrie is presently transitioning from an account management role to a marketing and sales role - with the ultimate goal of becoming a full-time broker by year-end.  
 
During her free time, Carrie loves to travel, enjoys dining out and spending time with her family and close friends. 
 
 
martha
Martha Ramirez, Assistant Account Manager
 
Martha Ramirez started her insurance career as an insurance consultant in her native Mexico.  Martha moved to the United States in 1996 and began taking business classes where she earned a Business Assistant Certificate and Medical Transcription certificate. 
 
In August of 2007, Martha joined Risk Concepts as an Insurance Assistant.  Martha passed the insurance licensing exam in May of 2008 and became a licensed agent.   Martha continues to complete various insurance courses to update and enhance her insurance skills.  Martha's fluency in Spanish brings additional benefit to Risk Concepts clients.
 
Currently, Martha is an Assistant Account Manager assisting Serena in day-to-day activities as well as handling certificates and IT support for Risk Concepts. 
 
Martha's interests include Computer Technology, Cooking  and spending time with her family.

 Rob Ferguson, Broker,
 CEO of Ferguson Associates

Rob Ferguson began his career in 1973 as an agent for Metropolitan Life (then the largest life insurance company in the world).  Rob specialized in the marketing and administration of employee benefits, executive compensation, business succession planning and addressing the strategic needs of business owners. 
 
Over the years, Rob has formed and sold several businesses; including insurance agencies, professional employer organizations, and consulting firms. Rob has consulted in business restructuring, organizational development, sales and marketing, process engineering, mergers and acquisitions, human resources and all aspects of strategic planning. 

Rob has hosted a weekly radio program, "Bizness by Design", is a Certified One Page Business Plan consultant, and in 2009, earned his Personal Training Certificate.  Rob has earned industry awards in Life Insurance Sales as a "Million Dollar Round Table Member". 

Today, Rob focuses on health promotion, consulting and insurance sales as a broker for Risk Concepts and as CEO of Ferguson Associates.
