Come to Alumni Weekend June 18-20. All Muskies are invited. Festivities begin Friday afternoon and continue through the farewell brunch on Sunday. You can stroll down memory lane with your classmates and around our beautiful pedestrian campus. Nikhil Deogun '91Nikhil Deogun '91 is CNBC

Nikhil (Nik) Deogun has joined CNBC as managing editor, where he will be responsible for day-to-day business news coverage and long-term strategy. He came to CNBC from The Wall Street Journal, where he was deputy managing editor. He oversaw all financial coverage for the news organization and directed the Journal's international network of bureaus and correspondents. Nik began his career with the Journal in 1994 as a reporter and served in positions of increasing responsibility over the next 15 years.
 
Nik discovered his passion for journalism at Muskingum, where he majored in English and economics and served as co-editor of the Black and Magenta. "My real inspiration for journalism happened while I was at Muskingum. My professors taught me to report aggressively and write clearly," recalls Nik. He earned his master's degree from the University of Missouri's renowned School of Journalism.
 
Nik is married to Allison Kimmich '91, who is the executive director of the National Women's Studies Association (and was his co-editor at the Black and Magenta.) They reside in New Jersey with their two children, Maya and Sameer.


 
Head Football Coach Al Logan '82Head Football Coach Al Logan '82
Named Coach of the Year

Coach Logan was honored by his peers as the Ohio Athletic Conference Football Coach of the Year at the conclusion of the 2009 football season. Al led the Muskies to a 4-6 overall mark and 4-5 slate and fifth place finish in the OAC. Muskingum was one of the hottest teams in the league, winning four of its last six games. Al is a member of the Muskingum Athletic Hall of Fame and a former All-American. Read more about Al

 
Otto and Fran Walter HallWalter Hall
Cornerstone
Ceremony

The cornerstone of Otto and Fran Walter Hall was unveiled during an April ceremony. The ceremony will be featured in the next issue of the Muskingum magazine Update.
 
Construction is well underway and we expect to welcome students through its doors in the latter part of 2010. Walter Hall is sited at the top of the hill that leads to the campus lake. The 30,000 square foot facility will be home to our music program on its upper two floors and to the World Language program and the Center for the Advancement of Learning on its lower level. Muskingum Installs Phi Kappa Phi Chapter, National Academic Honor Society
 
Muskingum is now home to a chapter of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest, largest and most selective all-discipline academic honor society. "This is an important milestone and a visible symbol of the educational excellence that has characterized this institution for more than 170 years," said President Anne Steele. Learn more


MISST Mary Hetrick Kaufmann '87MISST: Master of Information Strategy, Systems & Technology Graduate Degree

Muskingum's innovative online graduate program, MISST, targets an essential 21st century challenge: the intersection of business strategy and technology. Graduates are prepared to lead strategic change in their organizations. The program was recently featured in a television interview on the Ohio News Network. Mary Hetrick Kaufmann '87, assistant professor of informatics and MISST program manager, explained that ideal candidates for the program are those who "want to understand both the challenges and the strategic value that technology brings to virtually every aspect of business."
