 2010 was a busy year at MetaVis with a number of new product releases, feature enhancements and release updates. Keeping track of them can be hard. That is why we have created our own top 10 list for 2010. All of the product updates are available for free trial download at www.metavistech.com
1. MetaVis Migrator added the ability to copy sites, site collections and promote sites to site collections as well as adding support for many individual SharePoint objects. Among new objects we added support to browse and copy site and list permissions, security groups, permission levels, users, list views, WEB Parts (with views), publishing page layout settings, welcome page settings, site navigation settings, site themes settings, SPD Workflows, InfoPath forms, Survey lists and Discussion Boards, list and site templates, master pages. Added support for SharePoint 2010 specific enhancements including term stores and document sets.(And that's just some of the enhancements to Migrator!)
2. Released Cloud Classifier, a new server side solution that allows users to bulk tag and classify items and documents to improve search and findability directly from the SharePoint 2010 ribbon interface.
3. Released Change Control and Release Manager, a new software tool designed to manage and automate changes between SharePoint development, staging and production environments for thousands of sites. You can now distribute a content, item, list to thousands of sites automatically and compare development>staging>production.
4. Implemented the live side-by-side compare feature for sites, site collections and lists that displays a live difference report for all objects supported by MetaVis products starting with sites down to individual items, permissions, attributes, documents, etc.
5. Released MetaVis Folders that helps automate metadata inheritance from designated (or all) folders in a library. All you need to do is create a folder structure with metadata. Any file (or folder) placed inside these folders automatically inherits the metadata. Enhance SharePoint 2010 folder inheritance by extending functionality to subfolders and document sets.
6. Integrated MetaVis products with Exchange Public Folders, Windows File Classification Infrastructure (FCI), Windows Explorer (for bulk import) and the new Microsoft Online SharePoint 2010 from Office 365.
7. Extended bulk import from file system by allowing users to map file system folders to SharePoint fields, adding an optional folder removal feature and enabling automatic correction of illegal characters.
8. Improved visual appeal, general organization, ergonomics and usability of the product by adding MS Office style ribbon toolbar, interactive graphical wizards and background processing for all operations.
9. Added reports for site collection inventory, site users and site templates.
10. Implemented filter-based items, lists and sites copy that allows users to perform delta- and incremental migrations.
