Energy is a property, characteristic, trait or aspect of matter that makes things happen, or, in the case of stored or potential energy, has the "potential" to make things happen. Whenever anything happens or moves there is an energy change.
For the sake of this conversation, I am sharing my thoughts on your personal energy and its impact on the way you can choose to experience the holidays. For the next several weeks, life as you know it is about to change whether you believe me or not.
You are about to be bombarded with holiday activity, family and friend gatherings, commercialization, music, decorations, traffic, travel, additional expenditure, etc. I would suspect some or all of this might begin to take its toll on your energy, mood and perspective.
Think about it. Believe me when I say, "Everything Is Energy". Every thought, word and action brings forth different energy. Every variation, nuance, tone, intensity, sequence, duration, etc. carries with it the potential to enhance or diminish your energy. If you are conscious to this fact, you will have a greater capacity to make choices in alignment with your preferred energy and experience of the holidays.
The energy you bring to a relationship or situation will determine your experience of the relationship or situation.
Practice increasing your awareness to see what you can learn about choosing your energy instead of being swept along with the season. Take on the body posture and mental state of a couple of different moods to have an experience of what I am talking about.
- What does anger feel like to you? What are the thoughts, words and actions associated with your anger?
- What does resentment feel like to you? What are the thoughts, words and actions associated with your resentment?
- What does fear feel like to you? What are the thoughts, words and actions associated with your fear?
- What does sadness feel like to you? What are the thoughts, words and actions associated with your sadness?
- What does gratitude feel like to you? What are the thoughts, words and actions associated with your gratitude?
- What does peace feel like to you? What are the thoughts, words and actions associated with your peace?
- What does acceptance feel like to you? What are the thoughts, words and actions associated with your acceptance?
- What does forgiveness feel like to you? What are the thoughts, words and actions associated with your forgiveness?
- What does compassion feel like to you? What are the thoughts, words and actions associated with your compassion?
You can also explore other moods or feelings to create more awareness of what enhances or diminishes your experience of the holidays or other life situations.
Make a list of the energies you are choosing for your holidays. Let them be the context of your intention in thought, word and action. Notice what people, situations, thoughts, words or actions take you out of alignment with your energy intention. Make notes, This is valuable information.
