The Long Tradition of Evil (or "Lucky") Eyes,
& How They Protect You
In many cultures, it is believed that a person - otherwise not malefic in any way - can harm adults, children, livestock or possessions, simply by looking at them with envy. This belief in the "evil eye" is strongest in the Middle East, East and West Africa, Central America, South Asia, Central Asia, and Europe, especially the Mediterranean region. Attempts to ward off the "curse of the evil eye" have resulted in a number of talismans (aka, good luck charms), with a common talisman being a charm or glass ornament w/ concentric blue and white circles. As a class, they are called "apotropaic" talismans (Greek for "prophylactic" or "protective," literally: "turns away"), meaning that they turn away or turn back harm. Although mainly seen in Turkey (where all of Zodiac's evil eyes originate, making them authentic!) evil eyes are known to have been a fixture in Greece dating back to at least the 6th century BC, when an evil eye commonly appeared on drinking vessels. Place an evil eye in your home or office, or keep one in your pocket to ward off anything negative that might be coming your way! You'll find a huge selection in all sizes and prices at Zodiac!
