July 2011

Greetings!

I hope you had a great Canada Day
weekend!
Our campus is busy with classes, and the only person missing is you! Why not come take a campus tour this summer?

The part I love most about summer at the University of Regina is how our campus looks. Beautiful flowers and trees, lots of green space, and the way Wascana Lake sparkles. I'm tempted to break out of the office and chill out in the sun!

In this issue, we'll talk about the Faculty of Kinesiology & Health Studies, and of course University Lingo 101. We're also giving you extra time to apply to the U of R.  Find out more in this edition of URConnection.

Come visit us this summer! Realize. Your future starts here.

Article1In-Demand Careers with Kinesiology.

The Faculty of Kinesiology & Health Studies (KHS) is one of the fastest-growing faculties at the U of R. As the demand for experts in health care, athletic therapy and health promotion grows, students are choosing KHS to help ensure they get great jobs. Choose from programs like Health Studies, Gerontology, or Adapted Movement Science.

KHS is also a great destination for students planning to go on to be a physician, optometrist, or other medical fields. The personalised attention and instruction students receive in KHS gives them the skills they need to succeed.

If you're on the track for a great career in health care, choose Kinesiology & Health Studies at the University of Regina. Click the link below to find out more!

University Lingo 101Article3
Let's talk about first year in this edition or University Lingo! Each month, we introduce you to three new university terms to help you feel like a Professor of Academic Lingo.

Class Schedule: This could be the list of your classes, or the list of all the classes in a particular semester. Each student's class schedule will tell them what classes they have, in what classrooms, and when.

Welcome Week: The first week of classes on campus. Welcome Week starts with New Student Orientation, and involves a fun week of music, skills workshops, social events and a big party on the Academic Green! It's a great way to start off a year of school.

Campus: The University's physical grounds/space
. The U of R has both a Main (Wascana) Campus and a College Avenue Campus in Regina. There's also a U of R campus in Saskatoon for Social Work & Nursing. In total we have over 20 buildings and span over one million square metres!
We're working hard to serve you and look forward to answering any questions you may have. On behalf of the U of R and our Federated Colleges, have a great summer until our next issue!
