Greetings!

It's a great time to visit the University of Regina! The sun is out, flowers are starting to bloom, and students have just started summer classes.

Read about one way you can visit campus - our Open House - in this issue. You'll also read about the Faculty of Nursing and get the latest installment of University Lingo 101.

We're excited to be opening our doors to you on May 13! Realize. Your future starts here.

Article1New generation. New nursing degree.

Beginning this fall, the new

Saskatchewan Collaborative Bachelor of Science in Nursing

degree will be offered collaboratively by faculty from the U of R and SIAST.

This program will prepare you to practise as a Registered Nurse (RN). Throughout the program, you'll have the opportunity to learn and experience nursing first-hand through courses including theory and practice in caring for clients across the life span.

Our curriculum is based on contemporary needs for health care and trends in care delivery. Some examples of the courses you'll take include: Health Informatics, Family Health, and Rural Nursing.

nursing degree at sasknursingdegree.ca.

University Lingo 101Article3
University life is filled with changes, including a whole new language! Each month, we introduce you to three new university terms to help you feel like a Professor of Academic Lingo.

Offer of Admission: Once you've applied and qualified for admission, the Manager of Admissions sends a letter offering you a seat in your program (yay!). You have to tell the University that accept/confirm that offer by sending back the special form that was included with the letter. It's important not to miss that step!

Class:
A class is a class, of course! At university, however, you'll find a few different types. A lecture, for example, is a large class where a professor presents course material. A seminar is a smaller class based around discussion and criticism of academic works. You may also have a lab, where you might carry out experiments or do research in a laboratory.

Convocation: A fancy word for university graduation! If you're in Grade 12, you're focussed on your high school graduation right now, and in a few years you could be graduating from the U of R. You get to walk across the stage, shake hands with the President, and receive your university degree.

Come and apply for admissions on-the-spot at our Open House this month. You could walk away as our newest University of Regina student!

Take care and enjoy the great spring weather. We'll check in again next month.
