WISHING AND HOPING... Did you know that sending our wishlist requests to you each week was an idea from one of our customers? And it has become a very effective way to quickly find books for you. We find at least one a week. And as you know, we give the 'finder' a FREE USED BOOK in exchange. In the past six months we have listed most of the books currently on our wish list. So, from now on, we will only need to list those books requested EACH WEEK. This will provide a more timely response and allow us to shorten that list! We always keep your wishlist request on file for 6 months. Please let us know if you want us to watch for your book after that. We will be glad to update your request. And keep on checking that list each week! You never know, you may have one of those books on your shelf! |

400 CHILDREN... Imagine 400 children waiting in line to pick out toys and books! That's what happens each year as our Highline Food Bank collects toys and books and makes them available to families in our community. On behalf of you, our customers, Page 2 BOOKS donated four very full boxes of children's books to that event. The Food Bank served over 150 families, offering toys and gifts and goodies. We can be very proud of our participation in that event. Thank you so very much! DON'T FORGET THE FOOD! There is no down-time for the need for food. Please bring your donations of non-perishable food to our store for delivery.
WE DELIVER YOUR DONATIONS TO OUR HIGHLINE FOODBANK EVERY TUESDAY! |

Gayle | The Rest of the Story...
It's great to look back on 2011 because we accomplished some major goals!
OUR NEW WEBSITE: If you haven't looked at our new website yet, be sure to do so soon at www.page2books.com. We think we did a great job, thanks to Elizabeth Paulsen, Risa Miller and the rest of the great people at Cascade e-Commerce Solutions, Inc. And a customer in COLORADO thought so, too!
COLORADO? I happened to take the phone call that Saturday in December. "Kate" introduced herself, said she lived in Colorado and had found us through our website. She wanted to give her friends in Burien a gift certificate to a 'fun little store in their neighborhood' and 'one that they may not have been to yet'. She browsed the stores in Burien and decided on Page 2 BOOKS because we looked like we were having so much fun! Thanks, Kate! We look forward to meeting your friends soon!
CLOSER TO HOME: And another special thanks to Michael Bento at Gregory Heights Elementary School. About a year ago, Mr. Bento started a 'bookstore' project at Gregory Heights. Once a quarter he offers a large selection of books to the students for $1 each. It's a great program. Several of our customers volunteer to help with this program and they tell us over and over how exciting it is to see kids pick out their books. We are proud to provide our support to this program.
THANK YOU! I continue to take such pleasure in watching the pile of food grow each week. Karen delivers your donations to our Highline Food Bank each Tuesday. Thank you to all of you who donate. You are noticed and appreciated!
WHAT AM I READING? I have returned to old stand-bys: Belva Plain, Judith Gould and Dick Francis. I know, I know. But I needed comfort food!
WHERE AM I OFF TO NEXT? Southern California to stay on the Queen Mary in Long Beach for a couple of nights. Should be fun.
Happy Reading, Gayle |
