The Rest of the Story...
September is all about kids: school, new clothes, new friends, new teachers. Such an exciting time. Madison (grandaughter) starts 7th grade this year. Yes, for those who remember her as that 4 year old who took her naps in the back of the store, this is a memorable event.
Gayle and friend Thea Photo by Madison | Madison and I celebrated the last of summer by taking a trip to San Francisco to visit a friend of ours and shop for school clothes. Six pairs of jeans later, we all were ready for sundaes at Ghirardelli's Chocolate Factory on Fisherman's Wharf. We had perfect weather but drove across the Golden Gate Bridge in the fog. Such is San Francisco. We loved it!
Speaking of kids, please tell the kids in your life about our "Kids Club". Any child, up through 6th grade, can bring their used children's books to our store for store credit. We open an account for them in their name and then they can use that store credit to buy children's books from us. They do not need cash if their store credit covers the entire cost of their purchase. They must be accompanied by an adult, but the entire exchange must be made by the child.
We were sad to hear that LeAnn Chow is no longer with Page Ahead. We will miss working with her. As you know, Page Ahead is the local non-profit organization that puts new books into the hands of many deserving children in the Seattle area. Our local schools have greatly benefited over the years. Page 2 BOOKS holds at least one book drive a year in support of this wonderful organization. Look for another book drive in the spring.
See you soon.
