Sudden Service Expediting
NEWSLETTER
January 2010 Issue
Greetings!

Coming off the holidays, it's great to be back to a routine.  November and December always seem to be the most demanding months of the year and I am sure you'll concur.  Because of this we held off on distributing a newsletter during that period.

Speaking of newsletters, you don't want to miss this January edition if your company exports freight outside the United States.  Are you tired of dealing with a multitude of people in a complex shipping arrangement?  We can help.

We added a new a segment in the newsletter called "Customer Spotlight".  We will highlight and share details of companies who utilize our services for their complicated shipping needs.

Enjoy!

Let us help.

Recently I attended an exporting seminar hosted by the U.S. Commercial Service.  In this meeting they pointed out the major problems shippers confront in making these difficult arrangements.  I would like to inform you how we eliminate the confusion to make you a successful exporter.  Even if your company does not export we have very important contact information below to get your company started if you are headed in this direction.

What are the important issues shippers miss when exporting?
  • Marking
  • Labeling (NOT the same as Marking)
  • Packaging regulations
  • Shipping Documentation

Failure to comply with these exporting regulations will result in what I refer to with my children as a "time-out".  Only this time-out will be carried out by Customs, and I assure you that their accommodations and time period are more painful than two minutes on my sofa.

How does Sudden Service fit in the exporting process?  We are a shipping agent for a highly specialized freight forwarder having a 30 year tenure in the export business.  How good are we?  Just read the following testimonial from a customer who uses our export services to ship containers to Denmark.

"In today's competitive global market it is reassuring to know that our business as well as our customer's needs are protected.  Worry-free; that is what comes to mind when utilizing Sudden Service for all of our export needs.

The entire organization handles our requirements with integrity, professionalism, and the utmost commitment to Customer care.  One phone call to Sudden Service is all it takes to get our freight taken care of in an expeditious manner.

I am especially impressed with the level of detailed communication that they provide as part of our service; we know where our product is every step of the way."

"Manufacturer of Critical Performance Fasteners"

100% Made in the USA

Yes.  You read that correctly.  A 100% Domestic Manufacturer.  Isn't that great!  In todays world of importing raw material, what company would go against such a trend?  Let me share with you such a company called  TRUFAST, who we are very grateful to have a relationship with in serving their transportation needs.

Since 1981, TRUFAST is known as a respected manufacturer and brand of engineered fastening solutions for the construction industry.  Their product application is for Low-Slope Commercial Roofing, Architectural Metal Roofing, SIP/Nail Base Panels, and Timber Frame Applications.  Other product offerings include Dow Adhesives and Sealants.

For the past 8 years, TRUFAST''s growth has been exponential, upward from 13 million to 54 million in annual sales.  As they mention in their values statement about commitment to growth, "This is a strategic value we have chosen and will pursue no other path.  There are other trains one can choose, but understand this train is going North."

One key change implemented to achieve this aggressive growth was the process of employee evaluation.  President Brian Roth commented in a exclusive Inc magazine interview about how the traditional annual reviews weren't helping employee retention and productivity.  His answer?  To assess and reward employees by implementing a quarterly review program with the help from consulting firm Six Disciplines.  The results?  Huge strides in productivity and employees now eagerly ask Brian when they can expect their next review.
