Unfortunately the Summer is quickly coming to an end. School starts in a couple of weeks. We still have several months left of our Season, which is always great for business. We are seeing many visitors from France, Italy, other European countries, and of course the USA.
On behalf of your Chamber, I have been working with the Northern Arizona Regional Rural Economic Development (NARRED) for almost a year. This group consists of members from Tuba City, the Hopi Tribe, Antelope Trails Vending Association, Fredonia, and Williams. This group is for all of Coconino County, minus Flagstaff. We are now at the stage to form a recognized non-profit organization. Our goals for the region include affordable housing, broadband, customer service, education, and sustainable businesses for our region. We want to attact our young people to return to Northern Arizona, start new businesses, and raise their families.
I met with the State Director for the USDA last week and shared some of our goals/dreams for Page. Some exciting things are coming our way in the near future.
They have asked me to arrange a "Housing Fair" in the fall. The USDA Housing Department, HUD, lenders, developers, and the Navajo Partnership for Housing will be present to share their programs with first time home buyers, our Senior population, and other interested parties. Please stay tuned for this spectacular event. Call me anytime for more information about NARRED or the Housing Fair.
Don't forget the Powell Museum's Artist of the Month reception on Friday, August 12th, Friday Night Art Walks, Glen Canyon Lecture Series, and the Therizinosaur: Mystery of the Sickle-Claw Dinosaur exhibit at the Carl Hayden Visitor Center.
We don't have a mixer this week. We had a cancellation and were unable to fill the date at the last minute. We may have one later this month.
Be Safe on the Lake and with all your Summer-time activities...Have a great month and we'll see you around.
