Message From the Executive Director
Greetings!
September was a fun month representing the Chamber at the numerous meetings and learning more of the needs of our community. This is a small sampling:
- The Community Resource meeting with the various County, City, and Charitable organiztions working together to meet the needs of our children, the hungry, and homeless. Did you know that Page only has 4 certified Foster homes?
- The Rainbow Bridge Centennial is in 2010. Have you ordered your souvenir pins yet?
- Thanks to NPS and concerned boat owners, Lake Powell has escaped the mussel invasion this year.
- The State Treasurer, Dean Martin held a town hall meeting.
- The Circle of Page feeds 1800 people a month. The need for transitional housing is growing.
- The Powell Triathlon is seeking volunteers to help with the race. They are expecting 500 participants this year. This race keeps growing.
- The 2009 Balloon Regatta still has sponsorship opportunities available. Contact Dwayne or Evie at the Tourism office to become a part of this annual event.
This month we will focus on preparations for the Balloon Regatta. This annual event requires the help of many individuals to make this successful. The Regatta committee has worked tirelessly to secure the pilots, sponsorships, and partners, and the Vendor Fair is still accepting booth applications.
Our thanks to the many volunteers who make things happen in our community.
CC Cobb

Relay for Life As our 2009 Relay For Life campaign comes to a close and we reflect on all that was accomplished this year, I feel many thanks are in order.
This year our Relay For Life earned over $43,000. We had 16 teams registered and over 240 participants. All of these things are a record for recent history in Page. I know that so many are out of work right now and more are becoming unemployed and it has been a tough time for many. Yet everyone dug deep into their hearts and their pockets to make this the best year yet for our Cancer Society Fund Raising efforts.
I cannot say enough to thank all of the businesses and individuals who helped this year, and I wish I could print the names of all. But you know who you are and I hope you all know how blessed we are to have you as friends, neighbors, and community business leaders. I must give a special thanks to Lake Powell Chronicle, Mary Forney, and Lake Powell Communications for all of the donated space, wonderful articles, and radio time, that helped so very much to make this the most heartfelt Relay yet.
Please mark your calendars for the 3rd Saturday in September for the 2010 Relay event. Thank you all and May God bless each and every one.
