Happy New Year!
This year was challenging for most businesses.  Uncertain economic times are challenging, for sure, but often new and exciting opportunities emerge.  In October I attended a conference with chamber representatives from around the state.  Most communities had tales of hard times (we have ours, too) but few shared stories of business creation or expansion.  When I told about the Port of Toledo's boatyard re-opening, the addition of a new micro-brewery, butcher shop, etc., most were envious!

We work together as Chamber members to make Toledo's business environment better.  The business environment is dynamic and so is your chamber!  We will continue to evolve and grow our impact.  Thank you for being in business and Happy New Year.

Flower Basket Donations for 2012

Fundraising for the 2012 Toledo Flower Basket display is underway. The program is entirely supported by donations from residents and friends of Toledo. The fundraising goal is $14,000 for the 130 baskets are that ordered in January to adorn the street lamps along Business Highway 20, Main Street and the Port Dock boardwalk. A basket for the highway route can be sponsored for $75 and the larger Main Street and Port Dock baskets are $145; however donations of any amount are appreciated. Donations should be sent to PO Box 193, Toledo, OR 97391; make checks out to Toledo Community Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit which manages the funds - write "Toledo Flower baskets" in the memo area. So far, $8,000 has been raised.

New this year is an online tool for donations at toledoflowerbaskets.blogspot.com, where donors can contribute online. For more information, contact Marnie at toledoflowers@hotmail.com or call 541 961-3707.
