Summer Working Hours & Holidays

It's that time of year again and we're giving our customers notice regarding summer hours and holidays!
Being an online store, you can visit us and order from us 365 days of the year, 24 hours a day. If  you'd like to reach us you can either phone us or email us.
Our summer hours are:
Monday - Thursday: 8:30am-3:30pm MST Fridays: 8:30am - 1pm MST Week-ends: Closed
Holidays
We will also be closed for the following days for holidays:
August 17th - September 4rd, 2012. Last day to place orders is August 16th by 12 noon MST. Re-opening again on September 5th.
You can certainly order while we are on holidays but your order will not ship out until we get back in the office. If you have a question for us, email is best as voicemail gets full fast! Please note that due to larger volumes of emails in our inbox during office closures, it may take us a day or two to reply back to you. |

Natural Remedy to Help ADHD Kids (and adults!)

There are many natural remedies to help treat ADHD and ADD kids. Using checklists and organizers are effective and natural ways to deal with ADHD and ADD.
If you have a child who suffers from ADHD or ADD, you are likely frustrated and trying to find ways to help him cope with his ailment. Many parents wish to avoid pharmaceutical medications due to harmful and unwanted side effects, but often they are forced to use them anyways when natural remedies don't work. There are natural remedies, however, that do work and they are simple and effective.
Using Checklists and Reminders to Help ADHD Kids Stay Organized
This is one of the easiest procedures to implement when trying to give your child the tools she needs to stay on track. A total natural remedy, it will take time, but with patience and persistence, your child will begin to refer to their checklists more often and it will become a way of life for them.
A detailed checklist would be something like this for a school-age child:
- 7:00 a.m. - Get up, shower and brush teeth
- 7:15 a.m. - Turn off lights and go downstairs for breakfast and have medications
- 7:35 a.m. - Put away breakfast dishes, milk in fridge
- 7:40 a.m. - Pack lunch, put in ice pack and place in school bag
That kind of list may seem a bit strict but it helps the child manage their time. If, for example, it's 7:30 and your child is still in their room, unchanged and not ready, they will start to realize that they fell behind schedule and somehow 'got off track'. Then you can show them the time and ask them what distracted them. They also learn how to do things a bit quicker to make up the time lost so they can get back on track.

Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate

What is it:
Sodium hydroxymethylglycinate is a cosmetic preservative used shampoos, baby wipes, cleaning agents, cleansing bars, lotions and many other household products.
What are its risks:
- Sodium hydroxymethylglycinate works as a preservative by slowly releasing formaldehyde. This can be a problem for a number of reasons. First, being that formaldehyde is a known carcinogen. Second, it's a skin irritant and sensitizer. (Source)
Steph's Opinion:
While EWG only gives it a "2" hazard score, I would rate it much higher. It should be rated the same as other formaldehyde-releasing preservatives like DMDM Hydantoin (7-8) and Diazolidinyl urea (5).
