Parabens & Phthalates
|
Phthalates are compounds used to make plastic materials more flexible
and allow them to be moulded. Phthalates are emitted from these
plastics in the form of vapours.
Parabens are
preservatives that are used in most shampoos, toothpastes, creams,
sunscreens, lotions and baby wipes, to name a few.
Phthalates and parabens, due to their common chemical structure, mimic
estrogen and are therefore xeno-estrogens. These foreign estrogens are
also found in the birth control pill, herbicides, pesticides and PCBs.
Once they latch onto the body's own estrogen receptors, the level of
estrogen in the body rises. High levels of estrogen are linked to an
increase in breast cancer, lowering of sperm counts, premature
maturation of teenage girls, development of breasts in middle aged men,
increase in the prevalence of premenstrual syndromes, early onset of
menopause, greater incidence of prostate cancer and a rise in endocrine
or hormone disorders.
Interestingly enough, parabens have been found in breast tumour tissues
and have been shown to have estrogenic effects on breast cancer cell
lines (Journal of Applied Toxicology 2004, Critically Reviewed
Toxicology 2005). As parabens are a preservative, the percentage
required in a cream or lotion is about 0.2 to 0.3 percent. If one was
to imagine a person having gone through life putting an average of 32
fluid ounces of personal care products on their body each month, one
may predict a lifetime exposure of more than 1,000 times the amount of
parabens found in breast cancer tissues.

Made locally in Airdrie, Alberta - Beautiful Basics makes a wonderful line of skin care that so far - is the absolute BEST I have ever had the privilege of using.
As a person with a history of problem skin - finding the right moisturizing lotions and creams and cleansers was a challenge. Now, it's a challenge I no longer deal with and I owe it all to Beautiful Basics!
 Facial Scrub: This wonderful Scrub is a gentle cleanser, one I use once a week. Simple put a little of the powder in your palm, add some water to desired consistency and rub in circular gentle motions on face & arms. Splash with water to clean off. French Green Clay Mask: This mask softley exfoliates and tightens pores. Put a little powder in your hand, add a few drops of water to make a paste. Rub gently on face & neck and let dry for 10 min. Splash with water to clean off and see how great your face feels! I used this after doing the Facial Scrub 1x/week. Facial Toner: Can be used daily, simply apply to cotton ball and dab on face & neck to cleanse, refresh and replenish. Myself, I use this occasionally and love using it best after I've done the French Green Clay Mask.  Facial Oil: Do NOT let the word Oil fool you! (As it first did me!) This natural oil works better than any moisturizer I have ever tried and has caused me no skin issues at all. I also have 3 other customers with problem skin who also use this oil and have wonderful and noticeable improvements in their skin! Simply rub a couple drops in your palm and smooth on face. Can be used in the morning under your makeup and at night before going to bed. Baby Skin Line: This has to be one of the best skin care lines for baby! I will be getting in larger bottles but here's our testimonial on it! The Shampoo & Body wash lathers wonderfully. Soft and gentle for baby's skin and moisturizing as well. Self foaming and lasts a long time! The Shea butter is great as well and smooths nicely on babies skin - I am also using this for my own hands right now and it is glorious! My daughter loves the baby oil and it is the perfect wrap up to complete bath time!  Once I get these in in fuller bottles I will list them on our store's site.
