Letter from a Spirit Key client

I arrived here at Spirit Key on January 26, 2010 at 8:30 AM not knowing what to expect. I had my own thoughts about what to expect when I knocked on the door to the residents quarters, and was soon proven wrong by the greeting that I received from three total strangers. I was graciously invited into shelter from the cool morning air, and offered food and drink to nourish my weary body; I almost broke down in tears, but instead said a silent prayer to God asking for forgiveness and thanking Him for the path he had given me.
I met with Allen Rice approximately 45 minutes later. He too greeted me with open arms. He informed me of the Spirit Key rules and regulations, and expectations for clients. Mr. Rice showed me around the facility and informed me of what he was trying to accomplish. I thought to myself that Spirit Key has a whole lot to offer men in need, men who want the help and are willing to commit themselves to the Spirit Key cause. I also see that we (Spirit Key) need help ourselves, financially, monetarily, physically. We can achieve this small need by prayer and donations from our peers. But like all outsiders who look in, they usally ask, "what do we get in return for our time, donations and commitments"? From Spirit Key as a whole, I personally see and hear spiritual prayer and voiced commitments about what we want to be able to do in the near future. The prayer part is always accomplished, the voiced commitments are being worked on. All in all we here at Spirit Key still need help from our sponsors and supporters to accomplish our goals and fufill the vision of our founder.
I myself will always be thankful for the oppurtunity to be a part of Spirit Key during its intial stages in life. I hope to continue contributing to Spirit Key and the cause for which it stands.
I can only pray that all who are involved will continue to stay involved in whatever contributions and aspects of the path that we can help with.
