 Established in 2005, Spirit Key provides a comprehensive and innovative alternative to traditional parole and mandatory release programs; programs that address few specific issues, have limited success, high recidivism rates and often are described with terms like "revolving door." At Spirit Key, ex-offenders are immersed in four powerful, life changing subjects: reconciliation, rehabilitation, restoration, and responsibility.
The new resident has a "change of heart" and works toward reconciliation with the support of our staff. Off campus work programs as well as vocational and technical training works to rehabilitate him in life and employable skills. Life in Spirit Key relieves the burden of housing, transportation, and food so the resident can save newly earned money, thus raising confidence, restoring self respect, and demonstrating responsibility.
At the end of the three to six month program, the resident has a renewed outlook on life and is able to transition from prison to private citizenship. Spirit Key works toward engaging the Christian community to be financial partners and has many opportunities for volunteers and community outreach.
