Century Farmhouse®
Handcrafted Artisan Soaps
|
If you stand about halfway along our driveway early on a snowy winter morning, your view will be that of the photo above. It is the same view my great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, siblings, and now my children have experienced over and over, and it never fails to evoke a sense of belonging and serenity. Since the cold and snow have yet to arrive in our area of Wisconsin this December, the scene also lives in my imagination. All the craziness of the holidays makes me long for the peace and quiet that lingers just outside my door, and I wish that tranquility and warmth of spirit to each of you.
Many, many thanks for your support and encouragement during the past year and for your help in making Century Farmhouse a successful business for the past ten years. 2011 has been a busy anniversary year for us; you are a big reason why we're still making soap and loving every minute of it! I hope you have a wonderful Holiday season and a very Happy New Year!
Warmest wishes,
Ann Marie

Welcome to Century Farmhouse... Soap Deluxe! For the very first time, we are featuring a Guest Author on our blog!
It seems rather odd to write about the virtues of another soap maker's products, but this is a bit of a different situation, and these are no ordinary soaps! For nearly two years, I have had the honor of mentoring a soap maker from Manchester, England. (Isn't the internet a wonderful thing?) Philip Woolley was out of work and stumbled upon soap making as a way to use the skills he already had to create a business and hopefully make a living. Philip has done more than that; he has created an imaginative line of luxury soaps which he sells around the world. Each soap is put together with extraordinary thought and careful attention to detail.
Read about his journey to becoming a soap maker on our blog, and then visit his website to see his creative holiday soaps. You can also see more about Soap Deluxe on YouTube and Facebook.
It is a pleasure to welcome Philip as the first Guest Author on our blog. Getting a soap making business up and running is a different proposition in England than in the U.S. You can read more about his work in our email newsletter in early 2012. Will you be able to purchase Soap Deluxe at Century Farmhouse? Nope! It's Philip's job to sell you those!

A little wine, anyone?
 | | Apple Barn Wild Blackberry Wine Soap |
Earlier this autumn, we created some pretty unique soaps for The Apple Barn Orchard & Winery in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. It is not often that we make soaps with wine, and these contain not only the wines produced by the Apple Barn, but also their mint essential oil!
When we create a custom soap, we don't sell it - that is the sole honor of the person or company which commissions it, and the soaps are designed in partnership to make them uniquely theirs! You can read more about The Apple Barn Orchard & Winery's three new soaps on our blog. Then contact the Winery for one-of-a-kind gifts!
