March. Just the name of the month elicits thoughts of warmer winds, muddy paths, and incipient birdsong. The Sandhill cranes have returned to the nearby marsh and dance in our yard in the mornings. Spring is definitely here and with it has come a renewed spirit of creativity!
On March 7 we tapped the sugar maple trees in our woods. The sap was flowing and the tiny plop of the sap in the metal bucket made the simple sound that ushers in spring. This year a new maple sap soap: Maple Sap, Citrus, Oatmeal, & Mint joins the most popular Maple Sap with Oatmeal & Vanilla Soap. They'll be ready to ship by April 13, so place your order now!
April.The Century Farmhouse® calendar has been filling up as well. Many of you have asked about soap making demonstrations. On April 16, you can join me at Oscar Grady Public Library in Saukville Wisconsin to participate in the making of A Cup of Tea & A Really Good Book Soap, an interesting soap that contains ingredients representative of Oscar Grady's librarians' favorite books to curl up with this summer! We never know exactly what crazy ingredients this soap will contain until we make it, AND a book list accompanies every bar of soap so that you too, can curl up with a great summer read! If you'd like to host a soap making demonstration in your area, contact me for details at any time!
