Foundation Provides Funding For "Who I Am" Student Art Program
Mobile Museum of Art

The Mobile Museum of Art received a grant from the Foundation for the Who I Am program, which promotes interest in art by using it as a tool to help underserved students learn more about their history, culture, and themselves. The grant was made possible by The Community Foundation of South Alabama Clyde C. Snyder Arts and Classical Music Fund.

Mobile Museum of Art Class 8-12

As the Who I Am program enters its third year, the Museum has successfully developed a welcome and creative environment for children to learn about art and enrich their lives. The students learn how to use creativity to translate history and culture into a reflective work of art that links their heritage to modern life.

Sculpture This year the program will focus on children in grades 1 to 5 in the Mobile County Public School System Title I elementary school sites. Many of these low-income elementary students will be first-time visitors to the Museum. The student artwork will be placed on exhibit in the Museum Education Gallery along with recorded interviews of how the art further relates to their identity ("Who I Am").
