More Than $3.6 Million Awarded To Help Communities Recover
The Community Foundation of South Alabama announced grants totaling over $1.5 million to assist communities in Baldwin and Mobile Counties struggling to recover from the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill. More than $3.6 million has been awarded since July to help individuals, families, and children return to financial, physical and emotional health. The grants were made possible by a contribution received from the Fund for Gulf Communities, a program of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors. "The Fund for Gulf Communities has allowed the Community Foundation to support nonprofit organizations that are addressing the unmet basic needs of individuals, families and children," said Alvertha Penny, President and CEO, of The Community Foundation of South Alabama. "We are working to strengthen local nonprofit organizations so they are better prepared to respond to future challenges." |
