Community Foundation Grant Provides Oil Spill Disaster Assistance | |

Catholic Charities Disaster Response provides assistance to over 450 people in the Bayou
Since the beginning of the Gulf oil spill, Catholic Charities Disaster Response has been providing aid and relief to those impacted by the man-made disaster. Grant funding provided by The Community Foundation of South Alabama has helped provide assistance for rent and mortgage payments, utility bills and groceries. 
The program at St. Margaret's Church in Bayou La Batre has provided emergency assistance to more than 450 people.

Applications Due By May 31
The Community Foundation of South Alabama is recruiting AmeriCorps Volunteer In Service to America (VISTA) members for projects in Baldwin, Choctaw, Conecuh, Escambia and Mobile Counties.

VISTA members receive a living allowance of approximately $10,000 per year, health care coverage and a $5,300 education award upon completion of one year of service.
