| Foundation Seeks
Grant Proposals For Gulf Coast Oil Spill Disaster Relief | |
The Community Foundation of South Alabama has announced the availability of grants for programs that address the unmet basic needs of fisherman and individuals working in the seafood industry that are struggling as a result of the Gulf Coast Oil Spill.
The Disaster Relief Fund will support programs that address the economic, environmental and cultural affects of the oil spill disaster by providing critical response activities and long term support to affected communities.
Interested nonprofit organizations in Mobile and Baldwin Counties should submit a proposal. Grant applications will be accepted until funding is exhausted.

Corporation For National And Community Service CEO Meets With Alabama Organizations To Discuss Oil Spill Response | |
The Corporation for National and Community Service CEO, Partrick Corvington, met with state officials, first responders and nonprofit organizations at The Community Foundation of South Alabama to discuss the effects of the BP Oil Spill. Discussions were focused upon addressing the short term and long term needs of the Gulf Coast.

| Wachovia Donates $25,000 For Gulf Coast Oil Spill Disaster Relief | | |
The Community Foundation of South Alabama has received a $25,000 contribution from the Wachovia Wells Fargo Foundation to support oil spill relief efforts in the Gulf of Mexico. The donation will be placed in the Disaster Relief Fund and used to support nonprofit organizations that provide assistance to those struggling as a result of the Gulf Coast oil spill.

| Volunteers In Service To America Needed In Baldwin and Mobile Counties | | Gulf Response: The Community Foundation of South Alabama
The Community Foundation of South Alabama is recruiting VISTA members for service in Baldwin and Mobile Counties. AmeriCorps VISTA is a national service program. VISTA members commit to serve full-time for one year at a nonprofit working to strengthen our community.
Volunteers In Service To America (VISTA) members receive a living allowance of approximately $9,700 per year, health insurance and can choose between an Education Award ($5,350) or an End-of-Service-Stipend ($1,500) at the completion of one year of service.
Those interested in applying for a VISTA position should apply online at the AmeriCorps.gov
The deadline for applications is July 31, 2010.
