Elektra Wishes You and Yours a Blessed Holiday Season!
We Look Forward to Singing for You in the New Year! | | Morna Edmundson, Artistic Director |
Dear friends, This time of year finds me and our 50 singers deep in preparations for get-togethers with friends and family, planning for food, gifts, travel, music, and more. I am so grateful for the music that lights up this and every season for me. Thanks to everyone who attended "Chez Nous: Christmas with Elektra". A personal highlight was the exquisite music of Vancouver's own Borealis String Quartet. Yes, it's Elektra's 25th Anniversary season! Who would have imagined a quarter century ago that we would be connected instantly via the internet to choirs, conductors, and composers around the world? Fresh music and ideas pour in this way, and our Canadian music is also getting out to far-flung places. My sights are now set on the Pure Elektra concert on March 4th, when we will premiere a new work by Kathleen Allan, welcome our 12 Mira Mentorship singers, and offer up a feast of my favourite music. CBC Radio will be at Ryerson with us, recording the concert for national broadcast. Looking forward to seeing many of you there! In the meantime, all the best to you and yours. Morna |
