ReSounding Ryerson

A choral benefit concert for Ryerson United Church

September 18 · 3pm, Ryerson United Church

ReSounding Ryerson graphic Elektra has had a special relationship with Ryerson United Church since the choir's beginning. The church has been it's reheasal and performance home formost of our 25 years. In 2008 Elektra received the fabulous donation of a 9' Steinway piano which is housed at Ryerson, where it is used by the entire Vancouver musical community.

Elektra is very pleased to be part of ReSounding Ryerson, a choral benefit concert on Sunday September 18 that will see all proceeds go towards the ongoing refurbishment of the church as a performance space.

This concert is emceed by Christopher Gaze and features performances by Elektra Women's Choir, Chor Leoni Men's Choir, EnChor, Ryerson Church Choir, Vancouver Cantata Singers, and the Vancouver Chamber Choir.

Changing Lives

A benefit concert for Educating Girls of Rural China

October 2 · 3pm, St. Mary's Kerrisdale Anglican Church

Elektra is proud to present a fundraising concert for the life-changing work of the BC Society for Education Girls of Rural China (egrc.ca). Founded in 2005 with the motto "Educated women have educated children," EGRC has sponsored the university education of 250 young women from the impoverished rural areas of China's Gansu province.

In addition to the warmth and variety of Elektra's beloved choral repertoire, the  instrumental duo Cloud Bell Duet will perform a spotlight set of traditional Chinese music on the erhu, ryan, sanxian, and zheng.

This concert is part of the St. Mary's Kerrisdale 100 Years of Grace centennial celebrations.
