This Weekend in Victoria - Kindred Spirits: Elektra & Shelagh Rogers

May 14 · 7:30 pm · Christ Church Cathedral, Victoria

Kindred Spirits image Vancouver audiences are still talking about Elektra's remarkable performances of Kindred Spirits last weekend. At times incredibly moving and personal, this concert features a script written by our guest star and Canadian broadcasting icon, Shelagh Rogers.

The combination of Elektra's singing and Shelagh's eloquent delivery is powerful enough, but the crowning glory of Kindred Spirits is the stunning selection of photographs by Mike Grandmaison that are projected behind the choir throughout the entire concert. The synergy of spoken word, beautifully sung music (performed from memory), effective staging, and amazing imagery will move you in ways few "ordinary" choral concerts can.

Stephen Smith, Elektra's amazingly talented pianist and sought-after composer, wrote Solitude for Kindred Spirits. We were lucky enough to video it during our sound check on April 30, just before it's premiere.

That's just a sample of the broad range of musical choices that make up Kindred Spirits. (We suggest you tuck a few Kleenex in your pocket before the concert.)

We look forward to seeing our Victoria friends again and meeting new ones -  and please come up and say hello!

Tickets $25, available through the Cathedral office 250.383.2714, at the door, and through
