Elektra in Vancouver Sings: 10th Anniversary Choral Concert Festive choral extravaganza features 5 local choirs plus Japan's Brilliant Harmony
On August 13, Elektra takes to the stage alongside the Vancouver Bach Choir, Laudate Singers, Vancouver Chamber Choir, musica intima vocal ensemble, and Brilliant Harmony (Japan) for Vancouver Sings: 10th Anniversary Choral Concert.
Vancouver is blessed with an outstanding choral community and is home to some of the very finest choirs in Canada - and the world! This year MusicFest Vancouver celebrates its tenth year by inviting five of these distinguished choirs together in one hall, on one night, for a powerful and inspiring choral celebration.
Each choir will perform several signature works, and Japan's Brilliant Harmony will sing as well, and all the singers will come together for a grand finale.
This evening of choral music, sung in the superb acoustics of the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts at UBC, promises to be a festival highlight. Elektra is particularly pleased to sing alongside Brilliant Harmony, the amazing women's choir that was such a hit at our International Tapestry in 2009. It will be a treat to renew our friendship and hear them sing again! Order your tickets today.

Dr. Stephen Smith, pianist, in Recital
You are used to seeing him at the piano at Elektra concerts, playing brilliantly and offering constant musical support as we sing. This Sunday evening, July 25 (8 pm), is a chance to hear Stephen perform a solo recital at Ryerson United Church (2195 W 45th Ave, Vancouver). The concert is in celebration of the bicentenaries of Schumann and Chopin.
To quote Steven: "It's at 8 pm, admission is by donation, and the programme will include a waltz or two, a polonaise, a ballade, some song transcriptions, excerpts from Carnaval, Kreisleriana, and more! In the unlikely event that you're not busy that evening, it would be lovely to see you there!"Stephen Smith plays Schumann & Chopin Sunday, July 25, 2010 · 8 pm Ryerson United Church 2195 W 45th Ave, Vancouver Admission by donation
