anchorGreetings!

Thank you to everyone for attending Math & Technology Night on Thursday. We hope you had as much fun playing the games as you did learning a bit more about math and technology practices. It was another great turnout and we enjoyed spending time with our CTES families and friends.

Thank you to everyone who helped organize this event for your hard work and time volunteering - we would not have been able to have the event if it wasn't for you. A special thank you to Mrs. Warren, CTES Math Specialist, who planned the night's games and reinforced that math is so cool. And, a huge shout out of thanks to all the CTES alum students from Moody Middle School and Deep Run High School who worked the event as volunteers - we love that you still have your "Cub Pride"!

We'd love to know your thoughts about the event (What was your favorite part(s) about the event? What grade(s) are your child(ren) that attended the event? Do you think you could play some of these games at home? Do you think some of these games will increase your child's understanding of mathematics? How can we better the event for next year?). Please send your comments to  Nancy Chazen.

We look forward to another exciting family evening at International Night on Tuesday, February 28th  - see you all there.
PTA Board Nominating Committee

Believe it or not, the PTA is starting to plan for the 2012/13 school year, and our first order of business is to form a Nominating Committee to fill the open positions on next year's PTA Board. This committee is comprised of five members, two of whom must be PTA general members in good standing. The Nominating Committee's charge is to identify potential Board Members so that the General Membership can vote the new Board Members in later this Spring.

If you are interested in serving on this year's Nominating Committee, please contact Catherine Curran.

CTES Variety Show Update

We're in need of your help for the annual Variety Show on Friday, March 30th. This is a big show (not to mention fun and memorable), and we need volunteers to help with the planning and execution of the event.

It will take a bunch of willing parents to make this show happen. You can volunteer using the CTES PTA Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities nList site (owner email address: nlistcteshelp@gmail.com; password: 53be5a). We need the following Coordinator positions filled immediately to form our core planning team:
  • Emcee Coordinator to oversee the 5th grade students who will be our emcees for the show
  • Sound System Coordinator to "oversee" (ensure all goes as planned, answer questions, etc.) Shaner Sound at rehearsals and at the show
  • Site Map/Logistics Coordinator to manage the logistical needs of auditions, rehearsals, and the show (tables, chairs, electrical needs, trash/recycling, etc.
WE MUST HAVE THE COORDINATOR POSITIONS FILLED BY JANUARY 31st TO ASSIST IN THE PLANNING. SO THE VARIETY SHOW COULD BE CANCELED WITHOUT PARENT HELP!

If you're interested in helping out in any way, or just have questions please contact Nancy Keith, Variety Show Chairperson.

We will be having our next planning meeting this Friday, January 20th at 9:00 AM in the Library Conference Room. So join us if you can!
