Cub Chronicle Bear Calling All Dads!
Are you ready for an out of this world experience? Save the evening of Tuesday, December 6, for a truly stellar adventure in outer space with your children! We'll be hosting our annual Dads Night with a pizza party and scavenger hunt at CTES from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. Hope to see you there!

If you're interested in helping with the planning, the event itself, or just like to chat about the solar system, please contact Tracey Florence, the PTA Dads Night Chair.

Community Service Projects

The CTES PTA and SCA are both sponsoring community service projects this month. First up, we have the SCA's 2nd Annual Turkey Court. There are boxes set up in each classroom for your child to donate canned goods (no glass please). Each can that is collected equals one vote for that teacher. You can donate to any teacher you'd like including resource teachers. At each grade level, the teacher with the most "votes" will win a place on the Turkey Court! During the school assembly on Wednesday, November 23, one teacher's name will be randomly selected in a drawing to be named Turkey King or Queen and one to be Prince or Princess. Canned good collection runs through the 21st. Last year we collected over 2,300 cans; so we are also in need of boxes to store cans. Please help your child support this worthy cause.

The PTA is partnering with Puritan Cleaners and the Salvation Army in their annual Coats For Kids Drive. There will be a collection box set up in the front hall the week of November 14 to collect your gently used coats in any sizes, but especially kids coats. Let's help keep our fellow RIchmonders warm!

Cub Chronicle Bear Support your teachers
Henrico Citizen is again asking for nominations for outstanding Henrico teachers for their second annual 'Top Teachers' issue. The deadline for nominations is November 30: Click here to download the nomination form.

The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History awards  the "National History Teacher of the Year" title each year in its effort to promote the study and love of American history. Click here to nominate a teacher to win the $10,000 award.

Please Take It Away
What to do with all the extra Halloween candy that you'd like out of your house? Turn it in to Sweet Spot in West Broad Village. They'll give you 20% off one of their gourmet chocolate bars and mail your Halloween candy to our troops as part of Operation Gratitude. Let's sweetly thank our troops by sending some candy their way!
