The True Rule of Poverty By Evelyn Underhill in Mysticism
The true rule of poverty consists in giving up those things which enchain the spirit, divide its interests, and deflect it on its road to God--whether these things be riches, habits, religious observances, friends, interests, distastes, or desires--not in mere outward destitution for its own sake. It is attitude, not act, that matters; self-denudation would be unnecessary were it not for our inveterate tendency to attribute false value to things the moment they become our own.

CHURCH SCHOOL CLASSES BEGIN SUNDAY
JUNIOR YOUTH GROUP (JYG) & CONFIRMATION PARENT MEETING AT 10:30am
Welcome new and returning church school families! Please fill out a registration form even if you've participated before to make sure that we have up to date contact information.

Weekly sessions between the 9:30am and 11:00am service feature team building games, discussions about topics that will help youth navigate their way in today's world and lessons that will help them understand their Christian faith. The Confirmation program is offered to youth aged 8th grade or older. Confirmation classes are held two Wednesday evenings per month at 7:00pm. Confirmation is a commitment requiring substantial time from both the child and parent.
All JYG and potential Confirmation parents are asked to attend one of the parent meetings on Sunday September 9 or Sunday, September 16 at 10:30am in Memorial Hall to learn more about the programs and activities.

Come In. Enter My Small Life
Evelyn Underhill
Lord! Give me courage and love to open the door and invite You to enter, whatever the disguise. You come in, even before I fully recognize my guest. Come in! Enter my Small Life! Lay Your sacred hands on all the common things and small interests of that life and bless and change them. Transfigure my small resources, make them sacred. And in them give me Your very Self.
