COLLECT OF THE DAY
Almighty God, you have built your Church upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone: Grant us so to be joined together in unity of spirit by their teaching, that we may be made a holy temple acceptable to you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Miracles, The Shooting Stars of Everyday Life Miracles happen every day. Not just in remote country villages or at holy sites halfway across the globe, but here, in our own lives. They bubble up from their hidden source, surround us with opportunities, and disappear. They are the shooting stars of everyday life. When we see shooting stars, their rarity makes them seem magical, but in fact, they streak across the sky all the time. We just don't notice them during the day, dazzled as we are by sunlight, and at night they emerge only if we happen to look up at the right place in a clear, dark sky.
Although we think of them as extraordinary, miracles also streak across our consciousness every day. We can choose to notice or ignore them, unaware that our destinies may hang in the balance. Tune into the presence of miracles, and in an instant, life can be transformed into a dazzling experience, more wondrous and exciting than we could even imagine. Ignore it, and an opportunity is gone forever. -

BLOOD DRIVE AT GRACE ON JULY 15
Donating blood is literally giving the gift of life. Each day, patients in our region need close to 2,000 people a day to roll up their sleeves to give the gift of life. There is simply no substitute for voluntarily donated blood. Without volunteer donors, our community would not have an adequate community blood supply. Do your part here at Grace on Sunday, July 15 from 8:30am - 1:00pm. You can even go to the website (nybc.org) to schedule an appointment. Remember to bring photo ID and eat something before donating.
Want to help? We can use volunteers on the day of the drive. Call the office (358-1297) or contact Ian Graham (cigraham@viridianee.com) to find out more

GENERAL CONVENTION OF THE EPISCOPAL CHURCH
The General Convention of the Episcopal Church -- the legislative body which meets every three years at different locations throughout the country -- takes place this year from July 5-12 in Indianapolis, Indiana. In addition to adopting a budget for the national church, the body will consider numerous important resolutions (including whether or not to adopt the proposed Anglican Covenant) and liturgical texts (including an order of worship for the Blessing of Same Sex Unions). For up to the minute information about what is happening during the Convention, here are some on line resources:

PEOPLE TO PEOPLE
Summer is a no vacation for People to People. Church attendance and work schedules are altered and the amount of food collected is reduced. But our neighbors who depend on food donations from People to People still need support. You may not be in church every Sunday this summer but try to remember to bring non-perishable food for the Social Ministry basket in the narthex when you are there (bring a bit extra to make up for those missed Sundays).

SUMMER REFRESHMENTS
"Coffee Hour" takes place following the 10:00am service, and -- weather permitting -- we'll soon be serving punch outdoors. Your refreshment offerings -- cookies, brownies, tasty treats -- are always welcome -- and will be appreciated by all. Bring when the spirit so moves!

You Reading This, Be Ready Starting here, what do you want to remember? How sunlight creeps along a shining floor? What scent of old wood hovers, what softened sound from outside fills the air?
Will you ever bring a better gift for the world than the breathing respect that you carry wherever you go right now? Are you waiting for time to show you some better thoughts?
When you turn around, starting here, lift this new glimpse that you found; carry into evening all that you want from this day. This interval you spent reading or hearing this, keep it for life -
What can anyone give you greater than now,
starting here, right in this room, when you turn around?
