COLLECT OF THE DAY
Almighty and everlasting God, you have given to us your servants grace, by the confession of a true faith, to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity, and in the power of your divine Majesty to worship the Unity: Keep us steadfast in this faith and worship, and bring us at last to see you in your one and eternal glory, O Father; who with the Son and the Holy Spirit live and reign, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

It is precisely in awakening and exploring this rich and opaque inner landscape that the anam cara experience illuminates the mystery and kindness of the divine. The anam cara is God's gift. Friendship is the nature of God. the Christian concept of God as Trinity is the most sublime articulation of Otherness and intimacy, an eternal interflow of friendship. This perspective discloses the beautiful fulfillment of our immortal longings in the words of Jesus who said: 'I call you friends.' Jesus as the son of God is the first Other in the universe; he is the prism of all difference. He is the secret anam cara of each individual. In friendship with him we enter the tender beauty and affection of the Trinity. In the embrace of this eternal friendship, we dare to be free.
From Anam Cara, John O'Donohue

SOUP ANGELS NEEDS VOLUNTEERS - GRACE TEAM FORMING
Soup Angels, a local soup kitchen operating out of First Reformed Church in Nyack, is looking for new volunteers. In response to the steadily increasing need right here in our own community, they have recently added an additional night of service. If you are available either Monday or Wednesday between 4-7:00pm and would like to join a team of fellow Grace Church parishioners on a regular - or not so regular - rotation (perhaps every 6-8 weeks), please be in touch with Charlie Cross ( CORjjc@aol.com) or the office (358-1297.)

ALL IS NOT LOST FOR LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST
The Fellowship Commission has decided to move the deadline back to June 1 before turning 20 tickets back to the box office of the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival. So far we have 22 seats reserved out of the 50 we placed on hold this past March. Unless a lot more than eight tickets are sold soon, we will reduce our order to just 30 seats , but still wait until June 10th to send in the final number. We have enjoyed the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival for thirteen years and this year's June 24th outing will be just as much fun. If you want to join us at Boscobel for the pre-play picnic at 5:00 and the 7:00pm performance, contact Barbara Cross: Babcross@aol.com or 845-358-4599. Then mail your check ($33/ticket made out to Grace Episcopal Church with Shakespeare on the memo line) to the office or hand it in as soon as possible. You won't regret it!

A REQUEST FROM HELPING HANDS
Spring Appeal - The Good News and the Bad...
First, the bad news: Rockland County has had to cut eighty million dollars out of this year's budget. On the chopping block (among many other things) is its support of Helping Hands and other not-for-profit "contract agencies". A large cut is inevitable. We can only hope that our county grant won't be canceled entirely. Now, the good news: In our Spring Appeal, we have received $14,500 in donations so far-just $1,500 short of the challenge match of $16,000 contributed by our board and several supporters. If you haven't already given, please consider donating now. Checks may be sent to Helping Hands, PO Box 240, Nyack, NY10960, or go to the website: rocklandhelpinghands.org Thank you for your support! Peace, Raoul Cansino President, Helping Hands Since 2005 Helping Hands has provided shelter during to homeless adults through a network of eleven faith communities in Rockland County, including Grace Church.

Sonnet, Trinity 18
By Madeleine L'Engle
Peace is the center of the Atom, the core
Of quiet within the storm. It is not
A cessation, a nothingness; more
The lightning in reverse is what
Reveals the light. It is the law that binds
The atom's structure, ordering the dance
Of proton and electron, and that finds
Within the midst of flame and wind, the glance
In the still eye of the vast hurricane.
Peace is not placidity; peace is
The power to endure the megatron of pain
With joy, the silent thunder of release, The ordering of Love. Peace is the atom's start, The primal image: God within the heart. From
