COLLECT OF THE DAY

O God, you have prepared for those who love you such good things as surpass our understanding: Pour into our hearts such love towards you, that we, loving you in all things and above all things, may obtain your promises, which exceed all that we can desire; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

REFLECTION

"Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on; you knew that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make any sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of - throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were being made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace. He intends to come and live in it Himself."

SAVE THE DATE: Sunday June 12

It's not just the last day of church school, but we'll also be dedicating new memorials in the Garden with much festivity and celebration after the 11:00am service.  Watch for details to come soon.

HELP FOR ALABAMA TORNADO VICTIMS

Parishioner Ron Hammond sent this request: The company I work for in Orangeburg has a facility in northern Alabama, very near the zone where all the tornados hit. We are arranging for our trucks that make weekly trips with manufactured goods to also carry relief supplies to be given out to anyone in need in the area.  We are collecting Clothing and Shoes for Adults and Children, pillows, Bed Sheets, Blankets, Toiletries, Diapers Dry/Canned Goods, Pots, Pans, Kitchen, Utensils, Small Appliances, (Hair Dryer, Microwave etc.) School Supplies.    For the next month there will be a box in the narthex for any items you would like to contribute.  If you have questions, you may contact Ron

PEOPLE TO PEOPLE PLEA

People to People, our local food bank, is desperate for food donations.  They have specifically requested the following items: cereal and oatmeal, canned vegetables & juices, chili, beef stew, individual servings fruit snacks, dry and canned soups & beans, mac & cheese boxes, flour, rice, sugar, tomato sauce and puree, tuna, mayo, oil, peanut butter, jelly and powdered milk.  Please try to bring something with you whenever you come to church - there's a basket in the narthex for your donations.

FROM THE COMMISSION ON SOCIAL MINISTRIES
Carpenter's Kids
If you have not yet made a contribution to Carpenter's Kids, there are envelopes on the shelf in the narthex in front of the Social Ministry board.  Please make your check payable to "Grace Church" with "Carpenter's Kids" on the memo line. There will be envelopes in each pew if you want to give cash. If you saved change during Lent, the Provident Bank on 9W offers free coin counting.  If every family in the parish gave just $10 we could
continue to provide tuition, a school uniform and supplies, and a hot meal each day for an AIDS affected child in Mnase Parish Tanzania.
