Using the ever popular Myers-Briggs Personality Indicator, we'll venture to discover our individual personality types and explore how our personality affects our relationships with God and our community.  In addition to taking the type indicator assessment, psychotherapist Dr. Laurie Ferguson, former pastor of Palisades Presbyterian Church, will help us determine what the results mean, and we'll find out how being in touch with our personality can help guide each of us to spiritual activities that are most fulfilling.  In later sessions, we'll explore how prayer, music, journaling,communion with nature and other exercises might help us - and those who are different than us - expand and deepen spiritual and religious practice, both internally and externally. Please let us know if you plan to attend (#of adults/children) -- CLICK HERE to send an email.

FROM THE SOCIAL MINISTRIES COMMISSION

Carpenter's Kids & Lent

Last month we told you about the Carpenter's Kids program and what we have to collect to continue Grace Church's support for the children of Mnase Parish. Here are some suggestions from Social Ministry on how you and your family can be part of this ministry of the parish and the diocese:

  • Find an envelope big enough not to get lost on the kitchen table or counter and label it "Carpenter's Kids." Starting on Ash Wednesday (March 9) put $1 in the envelope every day until Easter Sunday (April 24). Put the envelope in the collection plate at church on the first Sunday after Easter.
  • Put a jar or can labeled "Carpenter's Kids" someplace where everyone in the family will see it every day. Starting on Ash Wednesday, have your family empty the change in their pockets into the jar each day until Easter Sunday. Before the first Sunday after Easter, count the change in the jar, write a check for that amount and put it (Carpenter's Kids on the memo line) in the collection plate. Social Ministry would like to make this an annual Lenten discipline and have the first Sunday after Easter be the day that the parish commits itself to another year of support for Mnase Parish.

CHURCH SCHOOL LENT GIVING PROJECT

This year the church school  will be learning about and raising money to support an orphanage and school in Haiti. During church school the kids will be introduced to the project, and at the Parish Forum this Sunday, March 13 adults will have an opportunity to learn more about the effort and how they can help.

A PRAYER FOR LENT

O Lord, The house of my soul is narrow;
enlarge it that you may enter in.
It is ruinous, O repair it!
It displeases Your sight.
I confess it, I know.
But who shall cleanse it,
to whom shall I cry but to you?
Cleanse me from my secret faults, O Lord,
and spare Your servant from strange sins.
