REFLECTION
I Tremble on the Edge of a Maybe

By Ted Loder

O God of beginnings,
as your Spirit moved
over the face of the deep
on the first day of creation,
Move with us now
in our time of beginnings,
when the air is rain and snow-washed
and the world seems fresh and full of possibilities,
and we feel ready and full.
We tremble on the edge of a maybe,
a second time,
a new try,
a tentative start,
and the wonder of it lays its finger on our lips.

In silence, Lord,
we share now our eagerness
and our uneasiness
about this something different
we would be and do;
and we listen for your leading
to help us separate the light
from the darkness
in the change we seek to shape
and which is shaping us.

8:00pm  Proper Liturgy & Washing of Feet

A service commemorating the "Last Supper" of Jesus with his disciples, taking place at the Passover Seder.  Jesus affirms the two great commandments: "Love the Lord with all your heart, with all your soul, and with al your mind," and "Love your neighbor as yourself."  In the Gospel of John, he performs another act: the washing of the disciples' feet, providing another example of service to others.  Jesus then commands his disciples to serve others as he has been willing to serve them.  Jesus' command-the mandatum-is the source of the name "Maundy" Thursday.  The final acts- the Stripping of the Altar and the singing of Psalm 22-remind us of the conflicts of Jesus as he saw the events of his life's end unfolding.

HOLY WEEK - A Change This Year
The services for Holy Week are different this year. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday the liturgy at 8:00pm will be corporate confession with the rite of healing (anointing). This will be followed by Holy Eucharist. Preceding the liturgy on each evening there will be an opportunity for any who chose to make a private confession. The parish clergy will be available from 7:30 to 7:50pm to hear private confessions. A clergy person who is not on staff will be available on one of those nights for the comfort of those who wish a further anonymity. Remember, private confession is in the seal of the confessional and cannot be revealed to anyone.. The full schedule will be  posted well in advance for the all who wish to participate. One need not make a personal confession to join in the 8:00pm liturgy. All this is in preparation for the great Three Days - Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and the Great Vigil - the high holy days of the Christan Church. PARTING THOUGHT

Assignment #1: Write a poem about Baseball and God

by Philip E. Burnham Jr.

And on the ninth day, God
In His infinite playfulness
Grass green grass, sky blue sky,
Separated the infield from the outfield,
Formed a skin of clay,
Assigned bases of safety
On cardinal points of the compass
Circling the mountain of deliverance,
Fashioned a wandering moon
From a horse, a string and a gum tree,
Tempered weapons of ash,
Made gloves from the golden skin of sacrificial bulls,
Set stars alight in the Milky Way,
Divided the descendants of Cain and Abel into contenders,
Declared time out, time in,        stepped back,
And thundered over all of creation:
                                       "Play ball!"
